About:
About Tivoli opened in Oneroa, Waiheke Island, Auckland, New Zealand, in August 2007. This unique project combines art gallery, specialist bookstore, film screenings and events. Story Early exhibits included animation by Parekowhai Whakamoe, art historian and artist Gordon H. Brown's work from the 'fifties and a focus on Iraq and Palestine. There were presentations by Dr Allan Kerr on the Middle East and Warwick Broadhead's dramatic performance of The Hunting of the Snark. Book stock focuses on graphic novels, artists' books, private press books, and - the only second-hand section - Old Penguins. These are for sale on the Tivoli website. Selected poetry, politics books and a quirky miscellany of other quality books are also stocked. Tivoli's space, just off the main street of Oneroa village, is small and intimate - only 22 sq metres. Some recent exhibits: Turkish miniatures, The Bash St Kids from Beano, leading New Zealand folk artist Dick Lyne, animation from Eastern Europe, Concept artist Billy Apple more exhibits Tivoli hosts book launches and the annual Waiheke Island Poetry Festival. A recent talk featured Griffith University professors on 'The One Per Cent'.
