About As the independent voice of local business and industry since 1882, our purpose is to “make business connections”. Story The Townsville Chamber is an a-political and financially autonomous organisation. While we work collaboratively with all levels of government, with other representative bodies, as well as the private and public sectors, the Chamber’s greatest asset is its independence. It allows us to advocate on a range of issues to advance the interest of our members in regional opportunities and community affairs. As the voice of local business and industry since 1882, our purpose is to “make business connections”. We serve 10,000 local workers employed by our 500 members, mostly Small to Medium Enterprises (20 employees or less), whilst 80% of local large employers (40+ employees) are members. The Chamber has a well-established, reputable brand managed by a dynamic, well-connected board of volunteers and an executive office. The Chamber’s vision is to make of Townsville the best possible environment where businesses can operate at capacity.
