About Bethany takes its name from the scripture account, naming Bethany as a place that Jesus went to be with his friends. Story Bethany Catholic Primary School was established in 1995 and has an enrolment of over 600 students. Bethany brings together a diverse range of students from twenty different cultural backgrounds. Such cultural diversity is highly valued within the school. Bethany has a strong spirit of team. It is a place where students teachers and parents actively work together to provide a vibrant and caring school community. An open invitation for families to come and see is always extended. We trust that families choose to enrol at Bethany because they love what they see and feel. A FUTURES FOCUSED SCHOOL. A futures-focussed school is a school that looks at where it wants to be, and then works out how it’s going to get there. So it’s a school where there’s a strong view of what students will need when they leave school, rather than what students need simply at this particular point in time, and then puts together a process that allows you to move from one to the other . . . so you need to be outward-looking . . .you’ve got to be bold in terms of the future that you see, because unless you have a really big reason to change, people won’t want to make that change, and they won’t come with you when they do it. At Bethany we believe that children learn through developmental experiences which challenge and extend each individual at his/her own stage of development. Bethany offers a curriculum framed by the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) established by the Board of Studies and the Religious Education Guidelines of the Catholic Education Office. These are powerful frameworks and the school is very clear about its goals in meeting expectations. However, ‘co-construction’ of learning experiences is encouraged.
