About Poimena Art Gallery Story Poimena Gallery has closed for 2017. We will reopen in February 2018 with a new calendar of events. The Gallery hours are 9-4pm Monday to Friday, closed during school holidays. The Poimena Gallery, situated beside the chapel at the main entrance to the Launceston Church Grammar School was established in 1999. The century - old building also houses the entire Launceston Church Grammar Senior School -Art Department. The gallery seeks to generate an awareness of contemporary arts practice by maintaining an inclusive programme that encourages innovation and community participation. It promotes artists and their practice by providing opportunities for exhibitions that challenge and extend the range of arts experiences available to students and the wider community.
