About The Victoria State Emergency Service responds to Flood, Storm, Earthquake & Tsunami emergenies as well as Road & Search & Rescue Emergencies Story The Hume Region extends over 40,000 square kilometres of northeast Victoria, encompassing many communities that are culturally rich and diverse. The Victoria State Emergency Service responds to Storm, Flood & Road Rescue emergencies as well as search & Rescue. The Region contains twelve local government areas, including Alpine, Benalla, Greater Shepparton, Indigo, Mansfield, Mitchell, Moira, Murrindindi, Strathbogie, Towong, Wangaratta and Wodonga. It is geographically varied including Victoria’s alpine resort areas of Hotham, Falls Creek, Mt Buller, Mt. Sterling and Lake Mountain.
