East Camberwell Train Station is a fantastic suburban station that combines practicality with a touch of local charm. Conveniently located on Riversdale Road, it serves as an important hub for commuters traveling on the Lilydale, Belgrave, and Alamein lines, making it easy to connect to Melbourne’s city center and beyond.nnThe station’s layout is simple yet efficient. With its island and side platforms, it’s easy to navigate even during busy peak hours. Signage is clear, and the station feels well-organized, which helps maintain smooth passenger flow. While lifts are not available, ramps make the station reasonably accessible, and the overall environment is clean, safe, and welcoming.nnEast Camberwell may be a smaller station compared to some major hubs, but it still delivers a reliable commuter experience. Trains are generally punctual, and the sheltered waiting areas provide protection from the elements. The combination of efficiency and convenience ensures a stress-free travel experience for daily commuters, students, and families alike.nnThe surrounding neighborhood adds to the station’s appeal. There are local cafes, small shops, and essential amenities within walking distance, making it easy to grab a coffee or snack before or after your journey. Its proximity to bus connections further enhances its accessibility for those combining different modes of transport. The station’s quiet, suburban atmosphere contrasts nicely with busier city stations, offering a more relaxed commuting experience.nnOverall, East Camberwell Train Station is a well-maintained, functional, and reliable station. Its strategic location, clean facilities, and efficient services make it a valuable part of Melbourne’s public transport network. Whether you’re commuting daily or just passing through, it provides a pleasant and dependable experience. Definitely deserving of a full five stars!
Good local station for the Ringwood/Lilydale line. It is right next to Boroondara Park and the anniversary trail which is nice, although not all services stop here and there is limited parking.
SMALL STATION ON BELGRAVE AND LILYDALE LINEnThe station infrastructure is quite old and there are no retail services or facilities onsite.nSome trains bypass East Camberwell, so be sure to chcekl the timetable!
FYInFor people who use platforms Platfrom 3 is used weekdays only for Blackburn Belgrave and lilydale and Ringwood services this is open from 6:00am till 12:15Pm and 3:00Pm Blackburn and Ringwood trains depart there, whist between 12:15 to last service platform 2 is used for Belgrave and lilydale services.nnPlatform 1 city loop and flinders street servicesnPlatform 2. Belgrave and lilydale services
Really quaint station that is a bit too close to Camberwell that gets stopping express services. Probably why the station doesn't get used much in the peak. Way to close to the Alamein line junction too. It is brilliant for trainspotting though, because the trains pass through at high speeds in the peak and you can also see the Alamein line branch off over the bridge. There is a road bridge not too far from the station that gives you an amazing view of Camberwell one way and East Camberwell the other. Does have the new PID's too that aren't like the Dot Matrix Indicators DMI's.
