"Mini Menus! Heads up – the global shortage of skilled food & beverage workers means we have smaller teams working across our venues this winter. Instead of venues closing, we’re rolling out more limited menus and in some cases, more limited operating hours than in previous years. The good news is, our team is fully focused on delivering delicious offerings and great customer service. We thank you for your understanding.Perched high above Thredbo Village, sits Eagles Nest Restaurant! At 1937 meters, it is Australia’s Highest Restaurant. Perched high above Thredbo Village, sits Eagles Nest, at 1937 metres, it is Australia’s Highest Restaurant! ⁣ ⁣ It was Dec 27th and it was a foggy morning so we decided to settle into the apartment in Thredbo for a relaxing day, Mike to read, me to work and mum couldn't sit still haha. I decided I wanted to catch the chair to the top of the mountiain and check it out, grab a coffee at Eagle's Nest and look around. The pares agreed to come and we got dressed for the mountain and as we got changed the fog completely lifted from the mountain, it was the most beautiful day!! ⁣ ⁣ We rode the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift to the top of Thredbo and we headed on in after a fabulous walk on top of the mountain, we got close to the last of 2021's snow.⁣ ⁣ , , & , ' . !!⁣ ⁣ - apple strudel⁣ - pancakes and bananas and a lot of cream⁣ - epic scones with cream and jam⁣ - an affogato with Frangelico⁣ ⁣ , , . , ' - !⁣
Location is awesome, service was good. Sadly the most important thing was lacking, that being the food quality. You expect to pay a bit more for food and drinks in high tourist areas however, it isn't great to pay those prices when the food is bad. The hot chocolates are watery, not creamy. Ordered the steak sandwich which came out rare. We were not asked how we would like it cooked but you would expect at least medium rare as a minimum. Also ordered the pasta which was mushy and overcooked, with hardly any butter or flavour. The staff offered to cook the steak for longer which definitely improved the sandwich. They also cooked a new pasta which was not overcooked but it still lacked flavour. Overall not a great experience but appreciate the efforts of the restaurant to rectify the situation. Still would not recommend.
This used to be our favourite spot after a hike. They used to have hearty foods, beautiful, German inspired sweets and dishes, big selection of German beers. Now...nothing, just sandwich with crisps and excuse is covid and global shortage. I am sorry, but there are many places in Thredbo, that don't seem to have problems and shortages of German beer Candlelight lodge is amazing!!
Awesome place , people who goes to Kosciuszko mountain National Park would definitely go there to fuel them.... The view from the restaurant was marvelous... All the staffs are super friendly.... Food was great :- Thank you Guys....
To get here, the chair lift must be taken which is at a cost of $45 per adult, however the scenery on the way up is worth it. Views from this place were incredible. Service was perfect, staff were very friendly and always happy to help. The food was unexpectedly good for such an isolated place, although expensive. Would highly recommend this place to anyone travelling to thredbo.
Fantastic views and reasonably priced for the area. The service was as great, but menu was a bit simple and the burgers dry and flavourless. Chips were great and the hot chocolate was amazing though.
Welcome to Australia’s highest restaurant. The only way up is via the Kosciuszko Express chairlift with your skis or snowboard so you can get on and off. The kitchen was closed when we arrived but the friendly staff were happy for us to sit and have a drink and order some of the ready made desserts. The view and atmosphere is very cool.
The highest restaurant in Australia, it has been the pit stop for many visitors to the mountain for many years. Visited in summer and on a day when there aren’t too many patrons so everything was great. Hot chocolate, coffee and good food. Couldn’t have asked for anything more.
A great joint to come for a hot chocolate after the Mount Kosciusko summit walk! People working here were as lovely!
Aside from the fact that this is the only place to get food during a hike to the top of Kosciuszko from Thredbo, and that usually any kind of food would taste amazing, this is still a nice cafe. The building was a little older which was expected, I’m impressed there was even food up there. I highly recommend coming here at the end of your hike for a bite and drink. The burgers were great, iced coffee and milkshake were also amazing. Hard to beat the view, after all you are eating at a cafe located in one of the highest points of Australia. Get a window seat and watch people come up on the chair lift either to ski, board or bike.
