A wonderful date night location and the ideal setting for watching a movie with your own snacks in your car. A fun experience, and they also provide services to jump those cars at the end who's battery has gone flat if needed. Toilets and a small restaurant/cafe for snacks nearby.
We went to a 10pm session on a cold Friday night it's very dark driving up and getting home as not many street lights around so drive safely. Once we were in it was very nice, not busy. The customer service is lovely. We had fun looking at everything in the diner while we had hot dogs and milkshakes. Movie quality and sound was very good. Prices all reasonable. I would come again as I am a supporter of drive-ins and experiences that remind me of the old days
Loved it, first experience at a drive in and would defo recommend! Diner not usually my thing but nice to see. Food was slow as it seems things are made to order, good and bad, get in early and order in advance online. Sound quality through the car radio was top notch. Car markings aren't clear so try to keep to one spot. Lots of info on their site that I recommend reading if it's your first time. Defo make sure you can keep those car lights off and electrics on at the same time.
My god. The website. Arrived expecting drive in, only to be told it's deckchair cinema, was freezing because I expected to be in my car, the website needs to have larger text specifying what it is, and a serious update. The sound quality was also abysmal. Made worse by the noise pollution from other surrounding screens and headlights from passing cars going onto the screen. Honestly feel like the deckchair cinema was shoehorned in with no thought to customer experience
I went to the drive ins a few nights ago and I had the best coustmer service I have seen in a long time! This girl was being so kind and sweet so I asked her what her name was, her name was Hollie and she was so lovley, after having a rough week she made my night, just with her smile and her words. She was chatting to me just about random things but it really did just make my night, big shoutout to Hollie for doing the absolute most.
The facilities are old, the sound has static through the radio, and the movie started late! Maybe because I’m used to lunar drive in new facilities and higher quality. But that’s saying something seeing as it’s in Dandenong. It’s also more expensive than Lunar drive ins. Won’t be rushing back.
And what is really disappointing is that the manager of this business seems to be incapable of accepting criticism and working towards better customer relations. She has posted 'sigh' and commented that it was disappointing I changed my review after having received a refund, but she only reluctantly agreed to do so if I agreed to remove my previous review. I have underling health conditions which made it impossible for me to attend, and yet despite pointing this out to her, it was like getting blood from a stone. I have seen other comments on this site about this particular manager and her combative approach to customer service. Please try and treat your customers with some respect and care.
Shelley's family have owned and run the business for twenty-three years. My wife and I took our two children literally when they were babies. Tonight we went as a family once again. Our babies are now 18 and 21 and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as usual. The quality of food was excellent and very affordable. The coffees were made with love! Memorabilia everywhere and plenty of souvenirs to purchase as well. It's been too long between movie nights, so we'll make our way back soon!
Wow what a vintage experience. Driving in is fairly clearly laid out with large signs directing you to the right screens. There are 3 drive in screens with their own designated areas and a fourth smaller screen for BYO chairs. Tune in on your cars radio or take a radio of your own. I was a little anxious about the car battery dying during the film, and since we caught a double feature, doubly so in the second but we were fine starting the car afterwards. They have a free jumpstarting service if you get caught out. And if your battery dies in the middle of the flick they have radios to borrow for a nominal fee There is a vintage style diner full of movoe memorabilia in the centre of all three parking areas that serves several burgers and hot dogs plus the standard confectionary you would find at any cinema. I was a little sad about them not having milkshakes available the night we went. I really wanted a burger and milkshake combo! The picture quality was fairly good with only a few times where the other screens flashed particularly bright which was a minor distraction. Audio quality was fine for the most part but in the particularly loud parts it got a little fuzzy which indicated the signal source might have been clipping through the FM transmitter or preamp, totally forgivable but also fixable. A wonderful experience in all.
Great experience - must do it once! Buy your ticket online, price is pretty good. Get your ticket scanned at the entrance booth and go to the field for your movie session there are at 3 fields I think. SUV, van, truck etc need to park on the side or back of the field. Car lights must be off and no foot on the brakes, you have to tune in to an FM radio station for audio or hire radio. Our car had to be turned off fully so no lights disturbing others but that means the audio turns off every 10mins which is the only annoying thing of this whole experience. Bring your own snacks/drinks and get comfy in your cars! Some people brought their chairs to sit in, there are toilets available around the back of the diner’s building.
