This place is a hit and miss! Let’s dig deeper and discover driftwood. They are located in a very good location along the main food street facing terrigal beach. It’s only a small shop that can sit less 20 people internally and externally on the pavement similar. One thing you might notice when you enter the shop is the interior everything looks like it’s from the recycled centre and assembled by the boss. He’s barista, delegator and garbage man, while there are two girls that look under 15 doing everything else from taking orders, serving and going back and forth from the kitchen. Who knows maybe they are making the food and drinks too, if that’s the case they are multitasked and quite talented. The food is served and the portion is huge for the price! I’m not complaining here as I was full for the rest of the afternoon . The food isn’t bad but it isn’t great either. Even though they lack flavour but the effort is there and you can see it on the plate, the presentation is good. On a positive note, service is good and staff are friendly. Great location, just a small cafe to chill and have a peaceful breakfast or lunch.
Amazing experience here. The food is fresh and tasty and so flavourful. You get a decent serving size for what you pay for. There are so many vegan and vegetarian options and the scrambled eggs were amazing. The big vegan breakfast was incredible and so filling and tasty with vegan bread and butter as well ! The seating is a bit small and cramped but not too bad. The service is very friendly and welcoming and inviting. The drinks were so yummy. Would definitely come back !
We were recommended the chai by a friend of ours at the gym in Terrigal. We ordered the homemade spiced chai tea on water with a side of almond milk and it is absolutely fantastic! Full of flavour and spice. We just ordered it again but for takeaway and is just as good as the first visit. Opposite the surf club in a good spot too.
If I could give negative stars, I would. This cafe violates several safety requirements. There were 8 of us who attended and we were all extremely dissatisfied. Firstly, our table was severly unstable as the bolt was unscrewed. We politely informed the staff of the issue and we were told "the tables can't be touched" so we moved to a different table that wasn't unstable. Afterwards, we were confronted by one of the staff members for being "rude". The table was extremely unstable. Had coffee been spilt on a customer because of the table, they would have been sued for negligence. We simply brought that to their attention and we were being "rude". Secondly, we ordered an iced coffee which came out non-iced despite the staff confirming multiple times that the drink would be made iced. Thirdly, when we were being served our hot coffees, the staff were reaching over babies and children to place the coffee in-front of the correct person. Fourthly, was a general confusion and lack of training from the staff. We asked to speak to the usual managers of the cafe, and we were told "they're on their annual holiday and you aren't allowed to talk to them". We had guests visiting us, and we will never return. Every few months we give driftwood a chance, and they ALWAYS disappoint us. We have learnt our lesson. No more chances. To anyone considering driftwood, we recommend bellyfish or island time which are about 50m from driftwood.
It’s awesome that this place has so many vego/vegan options! I’ve been a couple of times, and tried the veggie breakfast and the teriyaki tofu burger, both which were great!
Worst acai bowl I ever ordered. After waiting over 30 mins for our order, we got an acai bowl which was essentially a liquid soup. Go elsewhere and save yourself a disappointment
Big servings and nice meal! The waitress with the 3 flowers on her shirt was an absolute superstar too. Vegetarian options: Big veg brekky
Probably one of the worst places I’ve been too. If I could give minus stars I definitely would. Coming from someone that works in a busy restaurant and working short staffed due to Covid. I asked for an extra piece of bacon with my bacon and eggs I ordered and got told he only had one chef and couldn’t manage to put one piece of bacon on while it was already being put on, seriously little to no effort but obviously his extra bacon chef was off today. Then when getting the order it only came with one piece of bacon to start with. Paying $17.80 for an average at best meal, but to also listen to the complaining as he spoke very loudly and as I can see from the rest of these reviews really has a problem with the acai place next door. Not everyone needs to hear about your problems. You’re running a business keep it professional and keep your problems to yourself.
Lovely spot for a lunch. I particularly enjoyed the vegan section of the menu - nice to have a good selection to choose from. And it’s of note that the chips were HEAVENLY. Ones that you’d especially go back to a place for. Thanks for the great experience
Absolutely incredible! Loved my big vegan breakie and Emma loved her teriyaki tofu burger. Nikki had the haloumi salad and said it was super fresh and delicious. Our fresh juices were amazing and more creative then other cafes I've been to in the area. The staff were also friendly, the owner even spending the time explain a game that he brought from overseas. It's the little convos like this and the extra thought into vegan dishes that make me want to give my money to these types of businesses. Overall 10/10 experience. Can't wait to visit the area again!
