My review is based off an interaction whilst he was working at RNS hospital a few years ago. I have a history of anxiety and countless Psychiatrists told me that an antidepressant is a no brainer and the only option aside from CBT and similar. They got it wrong and something changed in my head. I went from clean and sober to using codeine I would skim from OTC at the time panadeine extra tablets. I would do this most days because I felt unbearable and it made life tolerable. I ended up in hospital at my own accord and on this occasions required or as a precaution was given a NAC drip. I wouldn't say I had the pleasure of meeting them, though a stern 'I am superior' looking person came up and asked who Tim is, told me he will be with me shortly. The way he spoke to me was appalling for someone in a fragile state, in hospital due to poor advice and ignorant doctors as well as poor choices on my part. He came over and I vividly recall saying "you don't have to treat me like a mental patient" He replied: "You are a mental patient, You ARE a mental patient" - we can't 'guild' it any other way. Then he said I should eat some lunch it is better for me than pills.5 minutes of telling me I am worthless and then sending me a bil for his professional consultation - what a joke. Upon the end of our incredibly quick apparent consultation, my NAC infusion had finished and it was beeping rather loudly. I politely said "would it be okay to get this taken out as it has finished'. Once again Dr. Rupert Edwards, on his high horse was quick to put me back down, saying: "It is finished when we say it is finished it was finished WE ARE IN CHARGE, not you - it is finished when we tell you it is finished. Then rudely walked off. Someone in a state like that could end up self harming. I was annoyed and am sharing my experience. Thanks, for nothing!
