I had an appointment mid year 2021 with Dr Ross MacIntyre and was charged $270 .00 for an examination. I was completely shocked and expressed my surprise to the receptionist and was advised of this was the standard price. I did extensive research and found the following. For brief initial visits defined as visits taking less than 15 minutes and for short subsequent consultation a fee of $64.30 applies. By comparison, Optometry Australia recommends fees of $64.70 brief initial and $85.32 subsequent for these consultations; Medicare provides a rebate of $29.60 for these items. My issue is purely with the consultation fee. I do understand that when a practitioner has driven all the way down from Melbourne it may increase the price, however l felt this was excessive.
The best eye specialist in town
I had an appointment for 10:30 with Dr.Mohamed Elnahrawy wasn't seen until 11:30, I was then seen by the assistant and waited again for another 40 minutes, I then asked the assistant if there was anyway I could be taken in before the others as I had another appointment at 12:30 which I booked enough time for but there seems a big issue at this clinic. She said she would ask the other patients if it was okay with them but I didn't want to inconvenience anyone else but they couldn't as they were also were tired of waiting, so she then suggested to me if I'm not happy then to find another eye specialist and was quite happy for me to take my records and leave. I can't believe her response and how rude she was, this clinic needs to train there staff to respect people and to be more courteous.
