Having my first ever surgery being back surgery was quite terrifying- however Dr. Curtis & his Practice Manager, Sarah kept me at ease throughout the whole process. I could not recommend Dr. Curtis enough, it was as smooth of a process as it could of been and their flexibility and caring nature was exactly what I needed in this time. I am now 9 weeks post op and am feeling really confident going into this next stage of my life, doing all of the things I used too before my bulging disks. Thank you to Dr Curtis and his team for all of your support!
I am very happy to recommend Dr Curtis as a Neurosurgeon. He has operated on me twice. My back and reconstruction of my neck. The second operation was 6 weeks ago, today's date 11/04/2023. This was a huge step having the neck surgery as I now live in regional nsw and needed to fly into Sydney. All pre op visits etc were done by Zoom with the cooperation of my local GP and Dr Curtis. I was able to fly to Sydney and was returned home via ambulance and air ambulance. Now in recovery phase I have no regrets and only praise for Dr Curtis, his staff and those involved at North Shore Private Hospital and of course those who returned me home safely!!
My name is Allan Fell If I could rate DR Curtis, it would be 10 out of 10 without hesitation. I cannot begin to tell you how pleased I am with Dr. Curtis and every member of his team. From the initial consult, DR Curtis made me feel so confidant about having the operation When I first saw Dr. Curtis, I had been suffering for about 7 years with neck pain My condition had progressed from stiffness and occasional pain in my neck, I lost the ability to do anything I loved or to even have a simple conversation without being completely distracted by the pain and that it might get so bad I would have to lay down Dr. Curtis listened attentively, and made me feel like he had all the time in the world to talk with me. He answered my ever question, gave practical, understandable information and sound advice on how to proceed I needed C4/5 AND C5/6 anterior discectomy and foraminotomy with disc arthroplasty. His comfort with the subject matter and complete confidence in his ability to solve the problem inspired me to get my life back. The procedure was scheduled on the 28/03/22, The operation went well and my recovery in hospital also went well. When I went home, I had to take it easy for 6 weeks during that time the pain was very low. Now it is the 15/06/2022 and I have no pain I can go outside and work in the garden and do other jobs that I could not do before DR Cutis performed the operation The care and concern that each person I came into contact with was outstanding DR Curtis answered my many questions before and after the operation. As a medical professional myself it was quite overwhelming, disorienting and scary finding myself on 'the other side' of things earlier this year. I am so thankful to have been cared for by Dr Curtis and his wonderful team during this period. I was seen to very promptly when my condition acutely worsened, and my post-operative outcome has been fantastic thus far. The communication from Christi and Sarah was outstanding, as was the communication with Dr Curtis himself throughout both the pre and post-op periods. Whilst I hope to never have the same presentation again, I would most certainly return to Dr Curtis if I did, and would not hesitate in recommending him to any of my friends or family. I’ve had “back pain” for years, but over the last 12 months it had increased, and I started to get some sciatic pain in my right leg. The deterioration was accelerating and the nerve pain in my leg became debilitating. I could not sit down without severe pain. An MRI showed a cyst that was impinging on the nerve in my spine at L5. After consulting with my GP, I received a referral to Dr Curtis. With COVID restrictions, my initial consultation was by Zoom. Even on this platform, Dr Curtis was empathetic and interested in listening to me. He showed me MRI images and explained the issue in a clear and understandable way. The surgical options were clearly described to me, along with potential risks. At the end of the consultation, I felt extremely well informed. While the idea of spinal surgery is somewhat daunting, I felt extremely comfortable in the hands of Dr Curtis so decided to have the spinal decompression and removal of the cyst. Immediately following surgery, the relief was profound, the nerve pain was gone, I could sit. I was well looked after in hospital; I went home feeling positive and knowing what the path ahead looked like. The whole process from initial consultation through to follow-up was clear, timely and empathetic. My thanks also go to the practice manager Sarah for all her help. Should any of my family or friends need surgery in this field, would send them to Dr Curtis.
Dr Curtis is an amazing surgeon. Dr curtis performed a L5/S1 fusion 7 weeks ago on me and I feeling very well after constant pain prior to surgery to only short pain that comes and goes when I do to much walking
After several years of pain which was affecting my life, I recently had spinal fusion surgery performed by Dr Curtis and it was a resounding success as measured by a complete lack of pain I now experience. I selected Dr Curtis for my surgery as he had operated on my father twice in the past and he had treated another back issue of mine several years ago. The result of all surgeries has been highly successful. Dr Curtis is not only highly competent, he is caring and compassionate with a wonderful ability to empathise with patient concerns. He has also selected a team who share these qualities. Whilst I hope to never have a need for his skills again in the future, I would return to Dr Curtis again without hesitation if necessary. He has given me back my quality of life and there is no greater gift.
Dr Jonathan Curtis is absolutely amazing. He and his team have been nothing short of amazing with my surgery and consults. I was told by my GP and worker's comp that there was no hope for me and that I was going to have to live the rest of my life in pain. Until Dr Curtis took my scans and saw that my reports were under written and to the point that I was nearly paralysed. But I was saved by Dr Curtis and his team and I could not recommend them highly enough and trust me, it's hard to find a good one!
During my recent surgery in September of this year I was so grateful to be under the care of Dr Jonathan Curtis. I was extremely fortunate to undergo surgery knowing that I was in the hands of this caring, compassionate and incredibly gifted Neurosurgeon. I would not hesitate to recommend the professional expertise of Dr Curtis to anyone needing the skills of a neurosurgeon. From day one my surgery has been a success and I am now pain free with returned movement, strength and sensation in my left hand and fingers which is wonderful. My GP referred me to Dr Jonathan Curtis in September this year for a consultation following severe pain radiating down my left arm which was accompanied with loss of sensation in three fingers and strength in my left hand which I thought was associated with my arthritis. From the moment I made contact with Dr Curtis' Medical Practice for an appointment right through to the surgery, the experience proved to be a very positive one. His medical secretary Heather was extremely helpful in arranging an appointment that was suitable and this was done with a sense of urgency as she promptly returned my calls. She also understood the necessity of making this appointment as soon as possible due to the severe pain and discomfort I was experiencing. When I met Dr Curtis I found him to be very welcoming and reassuring whilst his gentle manner immediately put me at ease. During the first consultation he listened to me as I explained the pain that I was experiencing and the sensation of tingling in my fingers plus the lack of strength/movement in my hand. He carefully reviewed all the data he collected plus my CT scans and explained that a nerve was being compressed in my upper back/neck within the disc area of C7 and C8. Surgery was discussed along with other options but prior to making this final decision I was sent for an MRI. In my follow up consultation Dr Curtis decided that surgery was the smartest option available to me with the opportunity that I would make a full recovery which I did. Surgery was scheduled at North Shore Private and once more my experience continued to be a positive one with all staff being incredibly attentive, compassionate and caring from the hospitality staff right through to Dr Curtis. If I ever found myself in a similar situation I would not hesitate to acquire the professional expertise and skills of Dr Jonathan Curtis. Not just an incredibly gifted Neurosurgeon but also a lovely man. Thank you Dr Curtis.
Dr Curtis was fantastic. After suffering with chronic neck pain for 9 years he was the first surgeon I saw that I felt really listened and understood my situation. He offered surgery tentively and I decided to have the surgery as I was out of options. I am so glad I took a chance on surgery. I am now 7 months post surgery and life has never been better. Dr Curtis has a lovely beside manner and I felt very supported by him and his office staff prior to surgery and during my recovery. Thanks to Dr Curtis for giving me my life back!
