Dr Arena is a highly professional and caring family doctor. He is very patient, knowledgeable and explain everything in details to you. Definitely one of the best GP I've seen at Sydney. High recommended
Ive been seeing Dr john for half my life and i feel as though I have really suffered under his care. When i was very young i had kidney stones and was per-scribed a course of antibiotics. This was a repeated problem for me and he failed to refer me on to a specialist which i did later in life and found a MASSIVE problem that i had to change my life style to suit my kidneys. I presented to him years later as an adult and disclosed that I thought i had an eating disorder and the quote i got was “you have to loose weight to have an eating disorder” which is completely false! It really harmed me as i wasnt “skinny” enough yet to be taken seriously. I dont think a dr should be practicing with such limited and harmful information. Just moved to north Ryde in half year my first time seeing a GP here, I check google maps and a bit hesitated when see this old clinic, choose to go another modern clinic and not satisfied from what they explain and do with me, not even checking my blood pressure i even paying and rebate most on my medicare. In the end I went to see Dr.John was so helpful, patient, explained a lot of detail, and refers blood check and ultrasound nearby area and can bulk billing with medicare. This oldie but Goldie clinic we need in community.
Great friendly staff who managed to squeeze me in at the last minute. Dr John Arena was great. Would definitely recommend!
Dr John Arena is by far the most patient and detailed doctor I've ever seen. Took his time with me and did a few checks on me before suggesting a blood and allergy test which showed some things I had no idea about previously. I cannot thank him enough as my quality of life has improved dramatically!! What an amazing guy who cares for his patients and even called me a few weeks later to check up on me! If I could give him 10 stars I would cause he is fantastic!
Firstly I need to mention that I'm American, I work in healthcare, and that I do not currently have insurance will have soon!. Each and every time I go in for an appointment I am greeted so warmly by the lovely young lady who sits behind the counter I am terrible with names, so please forgive me. She is so kind and helpful and understanding that it makes you feel better just by walking in. Wait times have not been an issue for me at all, unlike other places. Dr. John Arena comes to get you himself. He is also friendly and kind and listens to you. He is thorough and will work with you no matter what. Absolutely lovely experience every time. I never dread going in! It also helps that it doesn't cost a fortune in the US it would be a minimum of $1000 USD without insurance. I am so very grateful to have them close enough that I'm able to walk there. They are absolutely lovely, and, in my opinion, deserve 10/5 stars! Also the staff in the pharmacy which is located in the same centre are so wonderful as well! Each time I've gone in to get my medications filled, they always spend extra time to ensure that I know what to expect, whether to eat before taking something or not, potential side effects, etc. They are so kind and friendly and thorough, I really felt the need to mention that here. I am so grateful to have them all nearby.
As an American, sick in Australia, I assumed I’d be in bad shape should I need to seek medical attention. Unfortunately, I was in such bad shape strep throat that I had no choice. First? the cons: 1. The receptionists were warm and receptive. As an american this was strange to me where, in the states, the pre-requisite to work in customer service is to have a solid loathing for other humans. 2. The next con was the time in the waiting room. I waited only 3 minutes. I didn’t even have time to begin complaining on Facebook/yelp/instagram about how long the wait time was. Instead, they ushered me in to see the doctor. That was madness. Customers were being helped in a reasonable time. This concept is foreign to me. And I didn’t see a single pharmaceutical rep posted up in the waiting room. What kind of a circus are these guys running here? 3. Next con? The doctor was very very nice, listened to me, didn’t hammer me with a pile of unnecessary tests, had a diagnosis and a prescription in my hand in minutes, and made me feel comfortable. I didn’t have a single opportunity to feel like I was worth less than nothing as in the states the doctors tend to start with condescending comments while queuing requests for a pile of very expensive unnecessary tests before any actual treatment action can be taken. 4. The last con? My healthcare provider was not accepted. Instead I paid cash for the whole experience. Let me clarify that statement. I have zero health insurance in Australia. And the total cost of seeing the doctor, getting a diagnosis and treatment was the equivalent of my co-pay in the states. That was it. No hidden thousands of dollars in nickel & dime fees to show up in the mail a few weeks later. Nope. Paid my co-pay for the entire experience, went on my way, no drama and no games. It made me very uncomfortable. Healthcare in Australia will always remain a mystery to me. : 5 Stars! Thanks Doctor John! You’re the best!
Dr Arena is very experienced Dr. Looking after all medical issues of my family last 19 years .Great family surgery.Dr Frank Arena also based on this site he is cardiologist and on my first appointment with him I felt like I know him for years.
Ive been visiting this practice since I was very young. Even now that I've moved away, I still come out of my way to see Dr Arena. It's evident in the way he does his work that he doesn't just rush patients through. He takes the time to know who you are, whats wrong and how to best address any issues. 100% recommend.
