Safe to say, I won't be back. I was booked in for a general check-up with George who came highly recommended. When I arrived I was told that I wouldn't be seeing George and instead would be seen by the female dentist. The female Dentist spent under two minutes from start to finish (This encompassed the initial check for fillings, to the polishing of the lingual/labial surfaces). The whole process took somewhere in the order of three minutes total. One of which was spent with me rinsing with fluoride. I got up and stood perplexed in the hallway. "Is that it?" I said, half expecting to be told to go to another room to get the actual scale and clean done. The assistant said "yep that's it". I arrived at the front counter to settle the bill. I proceeded to hand my private health care card to the receptionist. She swiped the card and punched in $240 into the eftpos machine. My jaw nearly hit the floor. As it happily turns out, my private health insurance didn't cover dental, and thus was rejected. She asked if I wanted to call my insurance company to arrange coverage, I flatly refused the offer. She then informed me in a rather nonchalant tone that because I was paying with my own card, they would only charge me $120. Surely that's fraud I thought as I left the surgery, charging my insurance company 200% more than what the average person would be charged. I have recently moved to Cleveland and it was my first time visiting a Dentist who came recommended within the area. Incredibly disappointing. I have been to a number of practices on the Gold Coast all of which took far more time to do a thorough inspection and check-up. When I left these practices I felt I had gotten value for money, this lady didn't even floss my teeth. Typically a Hygienist would do this basic step, checking to see if there was any gingivitis (bleeding of the gums) prior to passing you over to the Dentist who would conduct an even more thorough inspection and if required, sales pitch into the next level of treatment. I felt the time and attention that was paid to me was incredibly disproportionate to the fee that I was charged. People wonder why our premiums are going up each year, I think I now have a rough inkling. So annoyed was I at this whole affair, that I actually took the time to write this review.

Excellent - I was so happy with getting a filling here I went back for two more :) Honestly though - A cheerful practice and Dr Nichols was extremely professional and competant
