My family has had a very negative experience with consultant Elizabeth Cotton at this firm. In dealing with a sensitive and emotional issue she was rude, abrupt and offered no actual legal advice on the issue at hand (instead she gave grim and inconsiderate views which were both unprofessional and insensitive). The legal answers we needed were simple and easily answered by a lawyer at another firm.

I would stay well away from this firm and the incompetence of Elizabeth Cotton, and instead seek legal services elsewhere for someone more professional and considerate.

I am incredibly pleased with the work that Downie Stewart has done for us, easily the best lawyers in Dunedin.  They are very thorough and always friendly.  As a client I have been very demanding, expecting only the best.  They have always delivered.  I am always pleasantly surprised when opening my monthly statement, as it is usually half of what I expect it to be.  Not only are they the best lawyers I know of, they are also the best value for money.

Our company required some fast legal work on a contract of significant strategic importance, that will also have ramifications for us internationally.  This required an in depth knowledge across a broad platform of contractual law - covering aspects of both domestic and international law.   The legal advice and paperwork received was exactly what was needed, and arrived in a timely fashion.   There was good questions / queries and communication back at us from the Downie Stewart team, to help fine tune our document.   Great job. David, Pieter and Neil are all available by phone *and* when I walk in. The team is raring to go, enthusiastic and impeccably professional. I love working with them and it is always a good client experience. Highly recommended!
