Nice dog beach which tends to keep fairly busy but not overly crowded. It is not fenced, but there is a very large distance to the nearest road. The beach was clean enough when we were there, however when tide comes in there can be a lot of seaweed. Owners in the area seem friendly and sensible enough with controlling their own dogs. Worth checking out if you have a dog and are in the area.

Good, clean, shallow and open beach. Never as busy as Brighton dog beach with plenty of parking. Heard of tiger snakes being spotted in bushes and lurking near the rocks. Ive stayed clear of those places and have had no problems.

As long as you're not expecting to paddle beside your dog, Altona is a great pooch hangout. It's a tidal beach, hence long stretches of ankle to knee depth water making it perfect for dogs of all sizes to play. It's just not particularly appealing in any way for the two legged species.

Lots of space for furry friends to run around. Shallow water for nervous dogs. No fences but the water is a long way from the car park, so no safety worries Have been back a few times now and would definitely recommend visiting at low tide, when there's lots of sand and shallow pools. High tide is not so great

Fantastic beach. Very well behaved dogs. Very social for both dogs and owners. A few people fail to pick up after their dogs, but overall very clean.
