Coffee was decent however I had the omurice - the rice tasted more like dry tomato rice and the curry sauce was not very thick, it also tasted a bit under seasoned. The fried chicken was nice and crispy though.
This cafe offers something a little different from the normal brunch options as well as some of the usual options. I went for the safe option soft boiled eggs on sourdough toast. The eggs were cooked to perfection with the right amount of runny yolk. My husband had the Coconut Jam Toast, which was a riskier option but he still enjoyed but the soft eggs could have been closer to the ones I had in terms of consistency.
A little pricier then most cafes, with limited menu. Breakfast only until 11am. Service is average. The meals were not the best super oily and buttery. Coffee was smooth and the presentation was lovelyFood: 3/5
Devon Cafe is a pleasant spot for coffee and food in Barangaroo. The photos are from a visit in May. Overall, food is usually pretty good and creative, though the menu is quite limited. Coffee is reliably consistent and well-made, and the matcha is always a winner.
Handy tip! Their online booking system limits reservations for tables of 4+ however when we arrived, we learnt the hard way that tables of 2 can be booked via the phone there were very limited tables for walk ins. Great food & coffee, poor service. Truffle Ricotta Hotcake and trio of snacks were highlights. It was our first time visiting this location and we’ll stick with North Sydney’s location going forward.
Love the omurice here - one of the best in town. It’s not traditional Japanese style, but I like that they replace curry with mushroom sauce - it tastes different. It’s bit pricier than other brunch spot but understandable. The restaurant space is bit small for a group bigger than 4Recommended dishesKatsu Omu Rice
Excellent breakfast with an Asian twist. I went for the "sheila" which had perfectly poached egg with caviar, avocado, and toast. My wife had a rice dish, and our friends had eggs with a very generous serving of toast. The area was a bit deserted on a Sunday morning likely different during a week day and lacked a bit of ambience. Would definitely recommend for somewhere a bit different from the norm.
Nice food. The chicken katsu is delicious and crispy. And the noodle has a great texture and well seasoned. However the broccolini is a bit too oily for us. I personally love the matcha latte more than the flat white. Didn’t taste any bitterness from the matcha. The restaurant is busy in lunch hour but the service is nice and fast.
My favorite truffle brunch menu ever! Every truffle season I definitely come to Devon Cafe for the cuisine! The menu of this year is worth trying for everyone.
Nice atmosphere and super friendly staffs. Love the food and coffee at this cafe. Will definitely come back to try more dishes.
