Spectacular scenery. There's a gap between vertical cliffs as if cut through by a knife. What's more, there's a gigantic boulder caught in between this gap.nnThe whole site is for free and there is free unmanaged parking at the entrance on the Cliff Drive. I would rate the beginning section of the track as moderate since it's not difficult to reach the opening of the canyon.nnHowever if you want to go deeper into the canyon, the terrain gets very rough, steep, and slippery. The section of track through the Devil's hole itself stretches for about 300m horizontal, descending for about 200m. I took 45 min to get to the bottom, and 1 hour to get back to the car park.nnI would recommend that you wear decent hiking shoes and outwear and have good fitness before getting deeper into the canyon. Definitely choose a dry day since it gets extremely muddy and slippery after a rain. Go as far as you can and don't overreach yourself for safety.nnThere's actually a track that goes through this canyon into the bottom of the valley. There you can turn west and north and eventually come back up the mountain through the Six Foot Track. Adding the distance together this would make the hike to Six Foor Track a hard one taking a full day.
The easiest way to get there is from Cliff dr. There’s also a busy station of the tourist hop-on hop-off buses and then a very hard climb downwards for 20-30 minutes. The last part is really hard rock climbing.nYou can also come from the other side, from the valley and then climb up to the street, but I guess that’s 1000 times harder
Words not enough to describe its beauty!!! A hidden gem!!! Devils Hole is an epic adventure in Blue Mountains offering access to wonders of the nature. The path is very steep and need to be fit to handle it. It will take you 15 min to reach Devils Hole from the carpark but the return will be around 30 min. Have proper shoes and water. Highly recommended!!!
A visit to Devils Hole requires one to be reasonably healthy and able to hike in mildly challenging terrain... the fact it is located in the Blue Mountains National Park is an indication of the nature of the area.nIt is not a long distance from street parking... you're however going to have to expect to walk down then back up...nIs it worth it? Absolutely % and taking lunch with you and enjoying yourself there is priceless
Easy on the way down. Big devils head right up there. Don't bother with big backpacks... It's a tough climb.
