On a sunny day it was the perfect place to sit outside although it was windy so I had to hang on to my paper cup. The BLT was delicious on lovely malty bread. The service was efficient, especially considering they were involving work experience students - which I applaud.Food: 5/5
We had planned to stop at the pavilion for lunch today, I went inside to the empty restaurant wasn't acknowledge by the young lads serving, nor by the lads having a giggle in the kitchen. We finally spoke to someone at the side window and after waiting an age, we were told there's an hours wait for food as they were so busy and some items on the menu were not available. We looked around and saw there's roughly 20 people if that! sitting at benches and tables outside It really was a ridiculous situation and extremely embarrassing for who ever is running this cafe. Poorly run with incompetent staff, no manager in sight to direct these kids, and poor planning - halfterm week and you have items on the menu that are unavailable. Needless to say, we went elsewhere and won't be returning anytime soon after today's experience.
Whilst it was a very busy morning with the park run happening. My breakfast was very disappointing. Very expensive for poor service and 1 powdery and one under cooked poached egg, can you find the mushrooms in the picture? I waited 40 mins for my breakfast to arrive, I was the only person sitting in the restaurant. Take away park run orders were prioritised, I won't be returning. Lovely setting, no heating but blankets are provided with every table for your knees.
Went here for cake to takeaway with pushchair. I stood at the counter and the young lady on the order side of the counter didn't acknowledge me in the awkward silence and I waited for at least 5 minutes. I could see she was sorting an order for customers sitting at their table. I felt it was rather rude i wasn't even addressed. A polite 'I'll be with you in one moment' would have been standard customer service. When I finally got my cake, I struggled with the double doors with the pushchair and shutting them behind me, I felt it would have been good mannered to have offered help but no. The place felt as cold as outside. Cheese cake was ok but the lady had squashed it in a takeaway box so it was quite mushy when i came to eating it. I doubt I'd go again, disappointing.
Since the coffee shop has moved under a new management the quality of food and drinks is beyond horrible. On few occasions I have been served coffee latte/flatwhite which was either so hot that I have burnt my mouth or have been given cold drink.Never really sure what you will get but I thought let’s give the new guys chance as every person there is new and needs training. Although it has been like this for months now! Today was a last straw for me. We ordered hot chocolate, hot milk and mocha. Hot chocolate was ok, but nothing exciting, milk was cold, even though I’ve said to make it hot as my child is ok now to drink warm drinks. For myself I’ve ordered a mocha. Instead of mocha I have been given lukewarm milk with a bit of chocolate. I’ve asked the server to make my drink once again, 15 seconds later I have been given another drink in a cup which was covered on both sides in milk froth and clearly just poured from one cup to another one. When my sister asked if they seen the state of the cup, we got an eye roll. At this point we requested refund. I’m sorry to say it but this place became a shamble with a staff which is not trained and doesn’t care at all about proper customer service. The lady new manager is either super friendly or with p..ed of face and doesn’t want to talk to you. It’s a real shame that it came to this point but I rather go somewhere else.
Lovely place to pop for coffee. Has an outside hatch for serving coffee etc 'on the go' and then seating inside and out if you are eating. My one criticism would be the lack of speed with service the coffee from the hatch. Queues can get long and the system in place doesn't seem very fluid.Food: 4/5
I love this place. Probably it's combination of all: the amazing park it's inside Bedford Park, the restaurant building old-ish, the natural style decor & cleanliness, relax & friendly atmosphere, last but not least can order eggs benedict, which not too fancy, but quite delicious. Food fingers also available. I'm a tea drinker but not a sweet tooth person. The yogurt is rather too sweet for my liking. Wished they aren't, because I like the taste.
This really is a gem! Fantastically situated, expertly run and supplying delicious food, I can honestly fine no fault! Serving brilliant breakfasts, lovely lunches and the occasional supper club, there really is something for everyone. Not forgetting the delicious cakes and sweet treats. Lots and lots of toys, activities and games for the little ones, water and free treats for dogs, it's a home away from home for our family. Best eggs Benedict I've had! Once you've finished reading this review don't bother doing anything else but making your way down!
Honestly awful : waited over an hour for mac and cheese, a children’s hot dog and a sausage sandwich. The drinks came within minutes so had to buy more when the food arrived. The mac and cheese was sloppy and horrible, the sausages in the sandwich were burnt and the chips were cold and looked like supermarket branded oven chips. Definitely won’t be returning, such a shame as there is so much potential.
We live on the Park and my daughter and I had a lovely lunch. Coffee was delicious, service was friendly and everyone around us was very happy. Chips are fantastic. Thank you!
