Story

Born in Darlinghurst and raised in Sydney, Dario Cotroneo first started dabbling in the world of hairdressing in the late 80s. 27 years later, he has made a national and international name for himself due to his international education program around Australia, New Zealand, London and America.

Dario’s passion for perfection and uncompromising attention to detail has seen him become one of the country’s most successful hairdressers. His sophisticated and sexy hairstyles have featured in the likes of Harpers Bazaar, Singapore Elle, New Woman, Cosmopolitan, Cleo, Shop Till You Drop, Black and White, Cream, Autore, and Madison. Dario has worked across multimedia, styling TV commercials including for Madison magazine, Westfield and styling Sarah Murdoch for Bonds.

The culmination of his career, the eponymous DARIO Salon opened in the year 2000, and is a haven tucked away in Kings Lane, Darlinghurst, in Republic 1. It was chosen for its resemblance to a back lane in the exclusive fashion districts of Milan. The unique minimalist design loft space has become a showcase for the small and talented team of hairdressers catering to the very best clientele.

Dario travels nationally on a weekly basis educating many of the best hairdressers, via his business DCI Education, which caters to the hairdressing industry globally. Dario consistently designs and innovates new refreshing techniques for the salon team, which is then passed onto hairdressers globally. Dario is considered as an innovative and inspiring hairdresser within the hairdressing industry.

Dario is supported by his team of extremely talented cutting specialists and high calibre colour technicians, all benefiting from his personal mentorship. He has established his firm belief that education maintains relevance, which keeps his team firmly at the forefront of the hair industry.
