On Saturday I was travelled to Italy...Luciana's home cooking school is really very special. It's not like most cooking schools that are minimalist in decor...her kitchen is one where you expect to see Nonna's making pasta. In a short time we covered many dishes and she took the time to explain the finer details. It's very well priced given that not only do you learn to cook, you'll enjoy 3-4 courses with wine! I highly recommend this special school. Re COVID masks were available, I brought my own and bookings were kept together...with distancing encouraged. I'll be back!!!
Had a great time at the pasta making class, I think there was a perfect amount of cooking and the food was delicious. Very reasonably priced for what you get for your money. Can’t wait to try some recipes. Would love to try more classes once I master the basics. Thank you!
My husband and I loved it! The ambience is so authentic and we were so lucky to be transported back to Italy by Luciana and her team. I've been to many Italian cooking classes before and I would definitely go back to Luciana's because it was so inspiring for future cooking. She taught not only about the meals we were contributing to but also golden rules for Italian cooking which will definitely elevate our cooking! My husband is making the risotto tonight, only hours after the class, because we were so enamoured with the experience today. I am gluten free and pregnant and they were very accommodating and supportive of not only my allergy but babybrain! We loved feeling like we were back in Italy and if you want an authentic experience, you've found the place! We will be going to her other classes :
Me and my friend attended the Long Italian lunch and pasta class! IT WAS AMAZING!! Luciana is an inspiration, she’s so full of knowledge, passion and loves a laugh The pasta making was challenging and thoroughly enjoyable and so worth it! The pasta was beautiful to eat, the sauces were full of flavour and the dessert at the end was mouthwatering. Luciana and the other cooks were so helpful and attentive, they provided white and red wine with meals however I don’t drink which would be a wonderful accompaniment. Thank you again for having me at your wonderful home, I have learned the art of making my favourite food and I will be forever grateful! I will be recommending this class to all my friends
I had a surprise birthday party organised by my wife at Cucina Italiana hosted by Luciana. I found the experience very pleasurable even though I had to prepare part of the meal which turned out to be exceptional. Luciana is a wonderful host attentive to her guests and provides a running commentary on the origins of Italian cuisine in her own inimitable style. I wish her well in these difficult covid -19 times. I am an Italian and recommend Luciana's cooking school if you want to learn the art of authentic italian cuisine. In bocca al lupo.
This is the first Google review I'm ever writing, but I just have to because last night was so great. I took my partner here for his birthday. The food was incredible, and you are fed throughout the evening so you aren't left waiting 3 hours to eat. The cooking wasn't too difficult and Luciana had really great culinary insights that you don't get in bigger classes. The class was intimate, inside her home, with a warm feeling to it and a small group of people. There was also wine with every course. At the end, Luciana heard that I had organised a scavenger hunt for my partner for his birthday, and her class was the last big event/gift of the day. She was so touched by our story that she gave me a free cook book. It was such a warm gesture, I have never experienced something like that before. The entire experience was amazing. I am so glad I found this class. Thank you Luciana :
The atmosphere is charming and the food you help to make is incredible. This is more of an experience than learning how to make everything completely on your own. But I've taken two classes here and I was successfully able to recreate the dishes at home. I took the classes by myself and other students were warm and welcoming. Next time I'll be bringing my partner as it's perfect for a fun date as well to learn something new. Highly recommend this Italian school!
One of the most wonderful cooking classes I have attended! Luciana inspires you with her love and passion for Italian food and culture. She teaches you how to make fresh pasta, ravioli gnocchi to perfection. I have a copy of her book, it is simple stunning! all recipes are traditional and work so well. Would highly recommend!!
I attended a cooking class with Luciana last month and thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back again. Not only was she gracious and understanding regarding my friend who couldn't attend due to a family issue, I loved her passion for the food and they way she shared her knowledge. I appreciated her style and her desire to share the 'right' way of doing things according to her experience and family history from the region of Italy she is from. She was firm in her instructions but always explained why she did things a certain way. You do not cook every dish from scratch but you get to make your own pasta and ravioli and watch Luciana make some other dishes while asking questions as she demonstrates. I enjoyed this way of teaching. And at the end of it you get to eat a fantastic multi-course meal. Watching Luciana cook dishes like semifreddo makes them far less daunting and I am trying what I have learnt at home. And her cooking classes are held in a beautiful old townhouse!
This was somewhat of a let down, perhaps my expectations were not aligned with reality. Luciana and her kitchen helper did most of the cooking and prepping while the students did a bit of pasta making. I would have liked to fully cook my own meal from scratch, starter, main and desert including plating it up, but for the most part I was watching Luciana make it. I could have done that on YouTube. Not what I expected from a cooking class. For the pasta making part, it seemed a little disorganised, not sure who was doing what. Luciana seemed somewhat disengaged, she has been doing this for 21 years, so obviously at some point it turns into a routine which you sort of feel. There are also positive things worth mentioning: The food was truly delicious and the house in Annandale is very charming feeling a lot like being in Italy, even though we are in the heart of Sydney. Luciana is definitely a very skilled Italian chef and her knowledge in the field of cooking is vast. If you are okay with watching and not so much hands on this class is for you. I should mention that my review is biased by other cooking classes I have done predominantly i Thailand where we went to the market and bought the groceries, did all the prepping, cooking and serving for every single meal.
