Reviews
I recently visited Crows nest hotel, and it exceeded all expectations. From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a great evening. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without ever being intrusive.nnThe drink selection was impressive. Plenty of local ales, craft beers, and a solid range of spirits and cocktails. The food was equally fantastic: hearty, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Whether you’re in for a quick pint or a full meal, this place delivers.nnLive music on the weekend added to the lively vibe without overwhelming conversation. It’s the perfect balance of cozy and lively, making it ideal for everything from casual nights out to special occasions.nnHighly recommend giving Crows nest hotel a visit. You won’t be disappointed!
Update January 2025: The first time I went there, it didn’t really have that local vibe. Recently, they changed the lighting from blue to a warm tone, and I’ve found myself visiting more often. I decided to stop comparing it to places in the Inner West since I live in Crows Nest now. The staff are super friendly, the food is surprisingly good, and the daily deals on the Pub+ app are excellent. I highly recommend it, especially the upstairs area on sunny, breezy days.nnUpdate: I have ordered some food and they were surprisingly delicious. Their daily special on beers is also great.nnI was expecting more of a local feel, given that the venue carries the suburb's name. However, on Friday evening, the crowd was mostly quite young, almost as if it were in the city centre. The staff were very attentive, and the bar area upstairs was neat and lively. It doesn’t have a particularly unique character, but the happy hour is excellent.
Love the Monday Drag Bingo nnFood-wise feel mediocre. They recently changed the menu, but feels like there’s not much choice that i like. Ordered snapper batter but it’s very ordinary.nnThis particular monday night the place was so busy, and the staff looked unprepared. I feel that the line up was disorganised, and some guests were skipped. If the manager is the only person who can enter discount code, maybe move the queue of the discount holder to the manager? Or change the queue/crowd management? Our booking for the table was missing, it takes more than 15 mins for us to order we’re not even queuing, and almost an hour for the food served. Lucky that we’re not in a hurry and hangry, but wow .
Great spot for a night out! The Crows Nest Hotel has a lively atmosphere, good food, and a solid selection of drinks. The upstairs area is perfect for catching up with friends, and the staff were friendly and pretty quick, even during busy periods. Only reason it’s not five stars is the music can get a bit loud if you’re looking to have a proper conversation — but that’s part of the vibe. Overall, a great local pub with plenty of character.
This was a really fun trivia night, but I was not a big fan of the vibe of the bar and of the offerings. I asked about the beers, and the bartender just told me to look at the taps. I asked if she had an IPA, and she said, “I don’t know..” This was the bartender. It was a bit odd. I wasn’t even asking if she could recommend a particular beer, and the place was not even that busy, it wasn’t like there was a big line behind me and she had to hurry to answer; she just was brusque. Also, shouldn’t the bartender know what beers they have? All the servers were brusque. Perhaps they were a bit anxious because they knew it was trivia night and they were going to be slammed, but no one seemed particularly happy to have guests there.nnThe margaritas that I had were not great either. The bar/restaurant was also really brightly lit. Maybe it was just for trivia night so we could read our answers? But I’ve been to other bars with trivia, and they are not this brightly lit. It was really offputting. Like being in a big supermarket. These are all the reasons for the three-star review.nnOn the upside, one of the people who worked there grabbed a table and two chairs so that we could be closer to the trivia area. He was very sweet. And, the trivia master was amazing! But I heard that it was his last day. At least that’s what he was saying over the mic. The trivia was fun; the questions were engaging, and it ended up being a packed house! Also, their wine choices by the glass were not bad.nnI’m just not a fan of the brightness of the bar and the quality of the drinks and the server’s attitudes.
