The food here is pretty good but the service isn't the best.nnWe had a booking for 5 and all ordered together.nnThe first meal was served and by the time the next two meals were served the first meal was almost finished.nnThe last two meals never arrived due to an error with the ordering.nnThe Criterion could easily be the best eatery in Yarrawonga but not until they sort a few things out first.
Just had a meal at this hotel. Ver disappointed. Meal was OK. Service not good. I do understand it is so hard to get staff everywhere. But just a few manners wouldn't go astray. Last year same weekend I could have said meals & service was 5 star. Sadly not now. Last year meals were very up market, varied, beautiful. Tonight very ordinary country pub meals. Menu is evidently set by Melb headquarters, pub being owned by a chain, who obviously think country people don't need upmarket food. Sadly we won't be back in a hurry. We had been looking forward to eating there again for the last 12 months.
Perfect location over looking lake, the cocktails are great, this place gets busy so must book. Play area is really great for the kids and lots of TV's to watch the footy. Service was quick even though it was busy! Pizzas were delighted!
Outdoor deck has views of the lake and is a top spot in the Yarrawonga township. Parking on the street or across the road at IGA. Great pub food and cold beverages. Kids area near deck. Dogs on leash welcome with hose/tap near kids play zone and water dishes around near outdoor tables. Q code to order from each table or order at the bar and remember your table number.
We came twice a couple of years ago and couldn't fault the Criterion. Service, food was all fantastic. This time no. Service still good and 2 of our 3 meals were great. We asked for the gyros to be served without onion.nWe sent it back as we specifically advised no onions. Meal came back a second time after staff had removed onions from the top plus a bite of the pita bread. We realised there were still onions underneath... same meal.nnThey then served the meal.up again with same pita and a big bite in it.nVery disappointing after such a great experience last time...
