Fabulous service from all the workers, it's a great atmosphere to try and get the greatest costume! I never go to another costume shop, it's your one stop costume shop in Melbourne!! The employees give you real reviews on how you look and give you the best advice on what to get. They're friendly and kind and very supportive in helping you. Such a variety in costumes to hire and buy, even quirky accessories too! Also everything is at a reasonable price. I would never go pass Melbourne Fancy Dress and Costume Hire!!!! :D
I recently hired a costume for myself for New Year's Eve. Russell has been great with fashion advice for the era 1920s, and suggested all the accessories I needed. Always helpful and patient, you just know that this is not an 8-5 job for the owners but more of a passion. My go-to place for any dress up occasion!!
We appreciate constructive feedback on our shop and our service and yes we do get it wrong now and again but we do our very best to meet every ones needs. In some cases that can be difficult to do, but we do try. We have a number of very good people who work on a roster basis so some times pricing information may not have been passed on, I am sorry if that has happened to you. In your interaction with our people you may have inadvertently said something to upset them. Our people are lovely people and at just over 5 feet tall i think you may have exaggerated with your term "extremely hostile". Owner is a nightmare to deal with. Extremely rude and NO customer service. Tried to cancel a costume request in less than 24 hours and the owner Asian lady made us pay a cancellation fee! She mentioned it was in the “terms and conditions” which we didn’t site, no staff member told us about and we didn’t sign anything in agreeance to this! Will NEVER go back! Very unhappy customers! Ridiculous service!
I purchased a wig here and tried to return it about 5 minutes later as it was clearly not of the quality that had been described. It looked like someone had cut into it with scissors which made it very uneven and choppy, and it was made of very very cheap material, akin to $5 party wigs from variety stores. The women would not let me return it and argued that the wig was fine. They finally admitted that it was not fine, and that it had been cut into by someone, but still refused to return it. They ended up giving me another wig that was admittedly better than the original wig, but was still of pretty poor quality. They don't care about you or your consumer rights, because "they just work here".
Very helpful team. Had a last minute issue with part of my costume 1/2 an hour before closing on a Saturday. Went back in and they found an alternative solution. A quick sewing job and I was on my way. No trouble or sign anything was too much. Will use again.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, able to work around problems and requests with ease. I have called and emailed before visiting a few times to ask about specific costumes, and have had very quick and informative responses. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good costume hire place.
