What I thought was going to be an enjoyable beach/park sunny Sunday experience with the grandchildren I was so disappointed with our experience. The owner could not be less interested in serving us. Asked for a certain fish and he said they were “all the same” Potatoe scallops were paper thin and soggy. I’m hoping he just woke up on the wrong side of the bed and his attitude improved as the day progressed. Not good for tourism
A basic breakfast. I had the big kahuna and my husband had eggs Benedict. He was very happy with his.. Great value for money. Generous portions Wheelchair accessibility: Easy for wheelchairs to access
Decent decent location. I would not say the food was fantastic but it was not awful either and the shop is reasonably priced. I really enjoyed the fact that they sell beer and wine. I have not seen many seafood places that have done that. Also the location is decent and respectable. Vegetarian options: Not much... Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly.
Ordered $5 worth of chips. We barely got enough to scape by as $2 worth. Shocking! Do better.
My experience here was very disappointing. I waited 20 minutes for 5 steam dim sims which were actually dumpling, the sad part is I asked before hand, if they were dim sims marathon or dumpling and was told before ordering they were Dim Sims . I understand it was a busy night but paying $17.50 and waiting 20 mins for this dish was very disappointing . The meat was all mushy and the skin was dry and in some areas hard , I feel they were microwaved. Not a happy customer at all.
The food was lovely! Give the food a 4/5. New Years Day a 45 minute wait is to be expected .... but what needs to happen is first of all the unhappy lady taking the orders needs to put a smile on her face and then inform you before you place the order of how long the delay will be. You are the first line of contact with the customer. Secondly we can all be busy so try to make light of the fact and try be friendlier . I will definitely come back as the food was great.
called in on a rainy Saturday for lunch. Ordered 3 snapper $12.50 - serving calamari- and some chips $5.00 Fish - not sure how but did not fall apart, it was like a piece of tough stake with no flavour, the breadcrumbs had not stuck to the fish or cardboard as it tasted. 32 small chips but cooked nicely should have been served in the box on display would have only half filled the box.calamari over cooked but not to be written off. Very disappointed with the meal. Service was out of 10 - I give it 6 food for the price I give it a 2. Never again disgusting
Possibly the worst fish and chips I have ever experienced. Overpriced fish not fresh and questionable origin, possibly farmed which was small, overcooked and dry. The chips were consistently on par with the fish, and tasted old and reheated. Our order took 1.5 hours after being told 35 to 40 minutes. Staffed by kids who looked like they wanted to be anywhere else but there. Coolum really needs a good fish and chip shop. Unfortunately, this is not it. Sorry, we won't be back.
We had a very good experience with the 2 young girls that helped us at the beginning. They were super helpful and knowledgeable about the different fish. However, when we went back to pick up another piece of fish that we asked to be kept aside for a little bit later a very rude older blond woman helped us. She touched the piece of fish with her hands, pulled it apart a bit probably to see if it’s cookedas we watched through the serving window. She wrapped the fish with her bare hands and then put salt on 2 pieces of chips and ate it. She then gave a younger man the fish to pass on to us. DISGUSTING!!!! How do you serve food, eat and touch customers food with the same hand. While you know people can see you. If you do that in front of people, what do you do where we can’t see???
Grilled snapper $11 was apparently steamed instead, and completely flavourless - no trace of oil. It was the smallest, thinnest fillet I’ve ever been served - barely twice the size of a small wedge of lemon. More like half a fillet compared to what is served at most fish and chip shops. Calamari was good. Nice kid behind the counter so likely not his fault. Won’t be back. Very disappointed.
