Needed a coffee wasn't expecting anything special. But it was a really good coffee, which was helped along with an apple crumble slice....soon good. Grat presentation in this little place in a humble arcade.
Friendly, albeit slow, service. $5.50 for a Medium Mocha is too much, especially when only one member of staff is in the shop at peak time. Coffee was also too hot and was drinkable only after about 20 minutes. This franchise could learn a thing or two from the Charnwood store.
One time I went here and I was really disappointed with the service. A girl with red hair seemed like the manager or leader was on her phone the whole time watching her nicer barista make the coffees then boasting to her "it's funny 'cause I can use my phone and you can't," anyway that's not the point at all. The reason I was really disgusted in the service is because we ordered cappuccinos, they gave us watery flat whites, and the red head smacked them on our table and didn't say a word to us! She even had a nasty look on her face. It seemed we were the last group of customers and they were really slacking off and being lazy near close time. I probably won't return here. This was a couple months ago and it just goes to show how long a bad experience like this sticks with you. They need to work harder.
I just spent $6 on a coffee which was undrinkable. I ordered an iced long black with a dash of almond milk to take away. I waited 20 min for my drink which tasted more like dirt than coffee. When I received my drink they had forgot to add the almond milk even though it was stated on the cup. When I asked for my almond milk to be added, the cup was already very full yet she proceeded to add in the milk, spilling coffee out of the cup. To make my experience worse there was a cockroach crawling across the bench and when I quietly pointed it out the staff member squished the bug with a chux, threw the bug on the floor and put the chux back next to their sand which press. Really disappointing as I’ve had some nice coffees from this cafe.
I was after a toasted cheese, ham, and tomato sandwich on wholegrain bread and it was the best: fresh, tasty, and wholesome. And the double-shot short coffee was, likewise, tasty. It's a good place to sit for snack with your book.
Friendly staff even though we walked in about 10 minutes before they were due to close. Good range of items. Would go back there if I was in the neighbourhood
Staff were unfriendly, barely acknowledged customers at the counter. It took 15 mins to make my coffee despite just two orders being in front of mine and the barista working at the machine the whole time. Coffee was nice though.
During my stay in Canberra I was visiting the Guru Coffee Shop quite a few times as I did not live far away from the Jamison Centre. The friendliness of staff is commendable and the quality of coffee is excellent. However, on one of my last days in Canberra before my departure to Tasmania, I have once more visited the Guru Coffee Shop. During my coffee break I have rearranged my bag by putting some contents on the bench. Upon my return I have noticed in horror that my purse was missing that contains money, credit- and personal identification cards. I immediately took my car and raced to the Jamison Centre. I run to the Guru Coffee Shop fearing the worst. When I have entered the cosy little Coffee shop, I saw the waitress behind the counter smiling at me and before I could say anything, she was holding up my purse. It took a load of my mind and I never felt so relieved. I wanted to embrace and hug the waitress but a barrier prevented me from doing so. I am deeply indebted to the sincerity and honesty of this wonderful lady. With my next visit I will definitely make good and to show my gratitude. Thank you Guru Coffee Shop for your sincere and honest staff member. Angie Hoffmann
Terrible service and exceptionally long wait for 2 coffees. Very dismissive when I complained about wait times. Place isn't particularly clean and poor selection of food.
Great coffee and friendly staff. Only 4 stars because the wait time for coffee is usually 10 mins minimum.
