We visited Cockington Green Gardens when we were in Canberra with our kids who were 4 and 2 at the time. Overall it was a cute little outing, but probably not somewhere we would rush back to.nnThe miniature displays are very charming and you can really appreciate the craftsmanship and history behind it. There are lots of tiny buildings and scenes to look at and the gardens themselves are nicely maintained. It definitely has a nostalgic feel to it.nnOur kids enjoyed it at first, but they did get a little frustrated when they realised they could not actually jump in and play with the miniature scenes. At their age they were very curious and hands on, so just looking was not quite as exciting for them after a while.nnThe highlight for us was definitely the little train ride which the kids absolutely loved. It was a fun and simple activity and probably their favourite part of the visit.nnOverall it was a pleasant stop and I can see why it has been around for so long. It is charming and unique, but personally it was not really my vibe. Still a nice place to visit once if you are in Canberra, especially with younger kids.
Cockington Green Gardens is a delightful place that feels like stepping into another world. It is located in Gold Creek Village and is a perfect spot for a relaxed morning or afternoon.nn• Incredible Craftsmanship: The level of detail in the miniature houses and landmarks is mind-blowing. The international section is particularly cool, featuring models from all over the world.nn• Miniature Steam Train: Do not miss the train ride! It is a hit with kids but honestly just as fun for adults. It takes you on a loop around the gardens and gives you a great view of the international displays.nn• Beautiful Landscaping: The gardens are immaculate. Even if you aren't into miniatures, the floral displays and perfectly trimmed hedges make for a lovely stroll.nn• Garden Cafe: We had scones and tea at the onsite cafe, and it was the perfect way to finish the visit. The seating area is quite pleasant and looks out over the grounds.nnIt is a unique attraction that is clearly a labor of love for the family that runs it. It is definitely worth the short drive from the city center for a bit of old-fashioned charm.
An absolutely delightful spot for a family outing. It is easy to walk around and is accessible. We came as family with seniors and a small child. It is a beautifully maintained park, they add so much detail to each display. The steam train $5 per head is a cute experience to view the park from another view. It took us around 1.5 hours to walk around. Highly recommend it.
I came here with my friends and I loved this place, it was absolutely awesome.nThe staff were very friendly.Infelt like being a giant in a miniature city. If you want to eat or have a drink, you can visit the Rose Room coffee shop and sit while enjoying the garden and the blooming flowers.nI also really enjoyed the steam train ride, it was very fun and exciting.nHighly recommended
A beautiful and unique place to visit with incredibly detailed and well maintained miniature buildings. The $5 train ride was lots of fun and a big hit with the kids. There’s a nice picnic area to relax, cafe a gift shop with lovely souvenirs, and parking available which makes the visit very convenient. A great spot for families and a leisurely day out.
