Steaks are good. My wife and my daughter took the sirloin and they loved it. I took the smoked slow cooked beef brisket specialty of the house and it was chewy as rubber. I asked to have a different main and the staff dealt with it nicely and professionally. Deserts are definitely not a strength here at least, not by French standards. Atmosphere is pretty cozy and the live music bar, at the ground level, it is a plus.

Good food, good vibes, . Very delicious salmon appetizer, tender steak, and tasty ribs. Would’ve been a five start. BUT losing one star for luke warm entrées; they only have two servers for about 20 tables so probably not enough staff to be bringing the food out just as they come out of the kitchen - what a pity as the food are delicious. Losing another star for pressuring us to tip, at the checkout counter, twice we were asked “do you want to tip us”, and they looked at how much you tip as you tip... this left a very sour taste to the whole experience. What a pity.

Decent food. My wife had the eggs Benedict which were great but my pancakes weren't that nice. Bacon wasn't crispy which is what you would expect with pancakes.

Quite a gem with a great interior, quick service, and delicious food specifically breakfast and lunch. In an area littered with over-hyped  tourist traps, Coalfire provided an amazing respite.

Really good food!  They also offered lunch menu options until about 5pm.  We were very happy with their new menu and would absolutely go back.

WOW. Simply beautiful food that I'd happily go back for. Highly recommend the Captains Pit Platter for 2, plenty to eat and you get to try a bit of everything. Go here!

Great steak. Soup and coffee is good. It’s a nice place to have fantastic meal.

Went to this restaurant twice with wifey. Both times during off peak hours and food was great, service was great, drink was good. Thought their price was cheaper than those we went to in Christchurch and menu the grills was really what we liked. Our waiter/ host Matt first day we went was wonderful and friendly.

Highly recommended.  Great atmosphere.  Food was amazing.  My wife said the pulled pork burger was the best she has ever had.  The peppered prawns I had were delicious.  Staff were very courteous.

Excellent meal at Coalfire last night. We shared the mixed platter, the ribs with the smoky bbq sauce were superb. Perfectly cooked sirloin steak too. Excellent service in a warm comfortable environment. Highly recommend.
