The City Mission Wanganui provides caring, professional social services to those in need throughout Wanganui.
Our office is open 9am until 3pm Monday - Friday
The work of City Mission Wanganui benefits mostly from Church Levies, charitable trusts and Foundations. Funding also comes from individual donations and bequests from the people of Wanganui. Added to this is the contribution of time and skills of dozens of volunteer workers in all areas of City Mission Wanganui's operations.

All donations over $5 are tax deductible.

Donations of non- perishable food, toiletry items, fresh fruit/ vegetables for the Foodbank are always greatly appreciated!
These can be dropped off to the Foodbank located at 7 Park Place Wanganui, between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays)

FOOD ASSISTANCE (Foodbank)
The foodbank supplies food and household grocery items to those in need.
If you are seeking assistance from the Foodbank you should FIRST make contact with Work and income NZ to see if you are entitled to a special needs grant (food grant).

Visit Wanganui’s Work and Income office located: 153 St Hill Street.
If you have no entitlement or are not able to get assistance from Work and Income, the staff at Work and Income will write you a letter stating why they are not able to help you.
You will need to bring this letter with you when you come in to see us.
We also accept food assistance requests/referrals from various budgeting, health and support agencies.
ALL Foodbank requests must be accompanied by a current bank statement that shows at least a minimum of last 10 transactions.
Please note that persons wanting to apply for a food parcel to make an appointment in advance.
The Foodbank is located at 7 Park Place Wanganui and is open 9am- 1pm Monday to Friday.

TOTAL CARE BUDGET - TCB
Provides a hands-on budgeting service for individuals and families who have either been referred by other agencies or those who are seeking support to manage their money.
EZEE MEALS
The City Mission sells frozen, " Home style meals" from our inner city office.
We currently sell:
Ten different MAIN meals (400g) @ $9.00 Each
Ten different smaller meals (300g) @ $6.50 Each
We are able to deliver meal orders over $20.00 within Wanganui City limits on THURSDAYS after 10am.
(There is a $5.00 delivery fee for this service)
COMMUNITY WORK AND DIVERSION
People who have been allocated to do community work/ community based diversion as part of their court sentence are able to apply to serve their community hours working for City Mission Wanganui
ZEST FOR MISSION
Zest for Mission is a venue for City Mission Wanganui to sell any goods donated to it. Located at 163 Victoria Ave and is open Monday to Friday 9:30am - 4:30pm and Saturday 10:30am- 2pm
Donations of QUALITY goods can be brought to Zest For Mission during trading hours.
