Authentic food with reasonable prices! We came here after our meeting and we tried a variety of different things here, from honey prawn, beef skewers, laksa, fried rice, to dessert. We absolutely loved everything! I really enjoyed the honey prawn as it’s crunchy outside and juicy inside. They added a lot of fresh honey as a glaze for the prawn, which was absolutely delicious!
The best Malaysian restaurant in Melbourne? The food was so delicious I didn’t even stop to take a photo! Definitely make your way to Acland St to have a meal here. By the way, you must try the lobak.
Less than 40’ seafood Laksa at home! I love Laksa soup but not always I am in the mood to prepare my own one. Today I decided to try, for the first time Uber eats Chinta ria soul and couldn’t be happier. The food was at my place in less than 40’ maybe because I am living around the corner… there was soup for my whole neighbourhood but I didn’t share, safety first! tasty, spicy and flavoured. I can’t wait to go to dine in this place. Thanks for my lovely dinner.
Love the veg Laksa Curry you guys make, nice ambiance for a eat in or a take away, Quick service, friendly staff, coming back for sure.
The food is reasonably tasty, certainly not the best in Melbourne. The portions were however very small, about half the size of what you would expect it to be. This was a big letdown for us. My wife is Malaysian and I lived there for a long time so we know Malaysian food very well. So if you are hungry, for a simple lunch you would be forking out around $50 per person to fill up your tummy! Such a pitty
Great fun. Quick service. Servings are generous so avoid ordering a full main course for every guest. Roti is great a well. I'm pretty sure two could eat first less than $20 per head if you don't buy grog and order thoughtfully... Byo welcome
Came here on a whim with my dear friends from the UK who are world travellers and great diners. They were keen for Malaysian food and we happened to walk past Chinta Ria. This cosy little restaurant is warm and inviting with lovely decor that invites you to settle in for some good food and exceptional service. For entree John had chicken satay 2 serves with satay sauce and Bex and I each had the duck rolls which I could describe presenting like spring rolls. There were 4 nice pastries filled with shredded duck with julienned carrots and silver thread noodles that were then snap-fried. Nice although a little traditional for me. For main course, I had the lamb red curry that was tenderly cooked diced loin of lamb in curry sauce with potatoes and coconut milk. John had the crab which was a special and said it was the most delicious he'd ever had. On the Chef's Specials it was called Kam Meong Soft Shell Crabs - lightly battered soft shell crabs wok-tossed woth butter, egg, floss, dried shrimps, curry paste and chilli. I don't eat seafood but had a taste and it was superb. Even I'd order it. I can remember what Bex ordered but she said it was very tasty and quite rich. The wine and beer list was good so we ordered a bottle of bubbles to celebrate. At $32, it was pretty reasonably priced and not a bad taste. Chinta Ria is centrally located at the northern end of Acland Street. Even on a Monday night there was good patronage with most tables full. After we were able to stroll down the street and find a bar for some cocktails. Staff were lovely and although made a few minor mistakes were quick to rectify and eager to please. Note: wheelchair friendly although a little tight, kid friendly, parking is hard in the area and you'll pay around $5 an hour or a maximum of $14 for a day. Parking inspectors are quick so maek sure you watch the clock.
Lemongrass beef, curry chicken, laksa noodle soup They were all good! Price is reasonable
Had the char koay teoh, though tasty, tasted of dark soy akin to hokkien mee. The seafood curry laksa is excellent.Food: 4/5
Came here with some friends and had the most devine beef randang. Amazing flavour with just the right amount of heat, plenty though to notice it without spoiling that amazing flavour. The roti was perfectly cooked both pliant and flaky and was perfect to pick up the beef pieces. The beef was soooo soft it fell apart when touched. The only niggle is they charged me extra to pay with my card, nearly $8 extra on an $80 bill for our table. This isn't allowed. I didn't realise until later on.
