Amazing authentic Spanish food with great quality! It has been 2 weeks since I've been there and I still think about the goats cheese croquettes regularly. Much to our delight when Chulo read our minds of the lovely soft croquettes and we were then given another complimentary croquette platter! All the staff were very attentive and the food came out quite quickly. I would definitely recommend this place to any Spanish food lover and will be coming back very often. Cheers to the chef and his staff!
Quality was fine, but certainly not extraordinary, and nowhere near good enough to justify the price of either the food or the drinks. Service was friendly but sloppy missed/wrong orders, no information about any of the questions asked about the wine, beer, vermouth, or sherry lists and astonishingly slow we were seated at 6, told the waiter we'd need to be out by 7 to catch a concert, and our first dishes started to arrive at 6.40—in the end we had to leave after the first two minuscule plates arrived, go to the show, and come back afterwards. The cauliflower dish was delicious, and the octopus and the croquettes were both good, but everything else was fairly ordinary. The bill was $160 for three people and we all left hungry. Definitely not worth the money, and definitely not a place we'd return to.
I lived in Spain for 5 years and eating at Chulo did bring back a lot of good memories. The food is great and service is excellent. Comparing prices with other restaurants in the area it is a bit expensive, but the quality is superior as well. Keep up with the great work!
No Bueno! Expensive for what they served. Small servings and the food was nothing special. Had the Paella. Tiny serving and wasn't even tasty. Supposed to be seafood, had one tiny slice of fish. Three mussels, one Baby squid and no prawns. Plus the service was slow. Waited a long time to eat for small food. If places are going to charge a lot for food they need to justify it and not just because it's fine dining.
The best authentic Spanish tapas ever!! The croquettes are to die for and the Sangria is definitely the best in Melbourne! Can't wait to go back for more. Highly recommend, great service and even better food.
A new kid in the block. As a local it is always great to know I can go somewhere on my own or with friends and enjoy tasty, healthy, authentic food. In this case it is Chulo offers Spanish tapas with a great wine list. Favourite wines by the glass and reasonably priced. Look out for the big Grenache. Loved the blue cheese and date croquettes. Lots of vegetarian options.
had the pleasure of eating at this new little tapas bar last night. What a treat! Lovely ambience and an all round happy feel to the place. We ordered a few dishes from the charcoal oven and they were so delicious. I havent tasted flavours like that since I was over in europe! The place has just opened but I didnt see any real teething problems to speak of. Everything seemed to run smoothy and the food came out quickly and the staff were friendly. Thank you Chulo for an enjoyable night. :
Dined with six friends for a birthday midweek. We were immediately impressed by the fit out and greeted personally by chef, Pablo, who was friendly and welcoming. Service staff were efficient and attentive. We ordered the "Chef's Choice Feed Me Mucho 7 Courses". All dishes were delicious, but Pablo's raw fish ceviche and paella were the standouts! Authentic Spanish beer on tap and great Spanish cava. We'll be back!
It's always great feel well looked after not only for the FOH staff but also for the chef Pablo. The food is espectacular, the combination of flavours, the colours in the plate and the texture of the different ingredients make stoning dishes. The atmosphere is so unique.
Excellent food, amazing quality and no less than a michelin star restaurant. Brilliant service and friendly staff. Great location and authentic place. The wines are to very high standards and I would highly recommend it. This place is in my top list! See you again soon!
