Busy, told wait was 20-40… turned out to be 63 minutes. Staff were trying their best but they skipped the “be nice to customers” class. 90% of the order supplied, I had to return for a refund. The shop could do with a clean and a paint. Visitors to Orbost deserve better
Chips nice but $9 gummy flake was disgusting. Very small and only 2 bites of edible flesh, rest was a horrible grey colour and over battered. No dim Sims in stock either...need too pick up game
Location: 9/10. Cleanliness: 5/10. Service: 8/10. I ordered a Chiko roll which costed me less than $5 while my Pop had a milkshake. The Chiko roll was good and the location was very good as it is prime location. I think there should be more tables considering there is lots of people doing take away and it takes a while for food to be cooked as there is only 1 or 2 cooks. I am disappointed with the cleanliness but this was rather an old building it'll need a reno some time. A good café and takeaway store that probably needs a fix up. Parking: Ample parking
Had fish and chips. Was pretty decent, didn't have to wait that long. Was a little oily, could be drained better, and the oil had a slightly odd taste, but was decent for a small town.

Hopefully they were just having a bad day but our experience was terrible. We waited 45 minutes for 2 hamburgers, chips and chicken tenders. If they said it would be half hour or so we would have kept driving. The chips were cooked nicely but had an odd taste, one hamburger was thrown in the bin as it was terrible and the kids didn't touch the tenders. Nothing else was open in town either so I feel for the locals that rely on these guys feeding them. Not a good stop on a long journey.
End of holidays, couldn’t be bothered cooking, decided on takeaway. Nothing else open but Chooky’s Roost fish and chips in Orbost. Perhaps the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. Fish was $8 each, dry, greasy and the size of a potato cake. Scallops were small, dry and looked like they were fossils excavated from some paleontological dig. The chip serving was generous to make up for portion size of other food but tasted like last weeks oil. 2 minute noodles would have been a gourmet feast in comparison to this.

We had a terrible experience at Chooky's today. A simple order for 2 adults and 2 children took 45 mins to prepare. At no point did the staff mention that there would be these kinds of delays. It was snail's pace for no apparent reason. Our burgers were barely edible, the bun was rock hard. It's a shame when regional towns need support and there is already so many others like this closing down post covid.
Food was good, huge serve for minimum chips. Bit disorganised in making meals which saw half our order finished 10 mins before other half. Girls said they were super busy but I come from Melbourne and they haven't seen busy yet. This aside it was still a good experience and I would return to get a meal again.
