We had best meal there last night. John & I ordered the deluxe seafood platter. It was amazing. Definitely will be our signature dish. The seafood was cooked perfectly and the fresh seafood couldn’t be any fresher. Thank you again Choofas for another great meal
We have been to Choofas four times in the past year. On our first visit we met the manager Jason. Pleasant guy, good business man and holds customer service as a high priority. The food is always cooked as we've requested and usually can't finish what's on the plate! Side note, steak lovers MUST try the 800g Rib on the bone at least once. Make sure you go hungry! Drink service is sometimes hit and miss. It pays to keen an eye on the wait staff if you're keen to get stuck into their large selection of drinks. On our third visit we had some issues with the service. After having a discussion with Jason the next day, we were invited back to try them again. The service we received was fantastic and I hope that it continues. Jason's focus on customer service is evident and if you have any troubles, don't hesitate to touch base with him. It's great to see that Choofas has weathered the Covid storm as Coolangatta has struggled to the NSW border being 50m down the street. Hopefully it's onwards and upwards for them now that the QLD border has opened up. Thanks again and we look forward to visiting next time we're in Cooly.
Dropped in to this place due to the good reviews and it looked Good. Took us a while to be seated at 5pm. Everyone appeared to be busy doing other things even-though only 3-4 tables had anyone at them. Once we were addressed, it seemed like we were putting them out to want to eat there, but we were seated. Took about 15m for someone to come over and take our order. She was friendly though once she came over. After our drinks and food was dropped off never saw anyone again. Too bad, cause they lost out on us buying another round or two. We got a patter to share between us and it was plenty of food. The food how ever was not the best. The chips were the best thing in the plate. The ribs were dry and appeared over cooked. The wings and a very earthy taste to them. The slaw was very watery. Even with all the sauces, everything really lacked flavor. Overall, the food was not worth the price even with the large proportion. Once we got up to leave, the table was cleared before we could even pay. Clearly they wanted us to leave. Wouldn’t go out of my way to return to this place. Even with the pet good drink selection and specials.
Best food great service,nice big menu. Great place to bring your friends and family for birthdays, lunch and dinner. My son had his 21st birthday dinner here, and my birthday . And any excuse now,to go back ! Kid-friendliness: Always see kids Parking: Usually get a park out the front!
Had an awesome experience here tonight. The food was so delicious. Hubby and I had the rump steak with Chilli Garlic Butter. OMG! It was perfectly cooked and was so tasty!! The food was fabulous and the service was exceptional! If you want a great value meal that will fill you up, awesome service in a really cool place, then I highly recommend Choofas.
Tonight 30/9/22, our review Choofas you rock, best of the best. Choofas restaurant provides the highest quality steaks I have ever eaten. Tonight I had the 180 eye fillet and it was the most magnificent piece of meat I have ever eaten, no kidding. My wife had the chicken wrap, the chicken was tender and tasty, it was delicious. So if you are in Coolangatta drop in here, if you are driving by stop and come in. This place is totally awesome. Totally recommended. Very disappointed - had looked forward to this for weeks as we love our smoked meats and especially ribs. Unfortunately it didn't live upto the hype. For starters we were there for a while and as we didn't get any service went upto the bar and got our own drinks.... only to be told not to as there was table service...... well not at our table there wasn't! Our waitress turned up and gave us menus but then disappeared. The rest of the party turned up and still we waited for quite some time before eventually she came and started talking orders. We asked for two ice waters as we couldn't bear to spend another $26 for a beer, spirit and lemonade round. When the water turned up, it was luke warm and no ice. Tasted disgusting! Then I watched in dismay as everyone eventually got their meals but mine didn't turn up..... after half an hour my daughter finally had to chase down a waitress as no one came back to our table to ensure everyone had a meal... little note, important rule of hospitality.... ensure your guests are happy and she requested why mine was missing. They said they would get onto it. I then had to wait for another half hour before it turned up! By which time everyone else in our party was finished and ready to leave so I ate alone.... what I could of it. Because to my utter dismay it was terrible! The smoked ribs were stone cold and dried out with just a sparingly drizzle of sauce. The potato and broccolini was nice but that was all I could eat off my $45 plate. My husband had the challenge burger $50!! which looked amazing however he said the meat patty was tasteless. I also had a $20 cocktail which was terrible...... bit hard to screw up a pina colada but this lot managed it! In fact they outdid themselves in showing everyone how you DONT please your customers! To top it off, when paying for our meal, the waitress apologised for the wait but even when I told her I couldn't eat them because they were cold and terrible, she merely said I should have told them so they would cook them again!! What? And wait another 1/2hr you mean? No thankyou! A discount on our meal would have been nice.... or a free drink but no.... customer service is dead here obviously... as cold and dried up as their ribs. So $150 later, and a 1.5 hour round trip wasted as I went home for coffee and a sandwich. So disappointed. Won't be back.
Everything about our experience was positive. Booking on line was easy. Great service, very friendly. Food was excellent, everyone in our party of 8 were very happy with their meals and prices were reasonable. Would recommend and will be making it a regular dining venue
So yummy we had 2 nights in a row!! The first night we had takeaways. My husband and I shared a1/2 ribs with sides and some wings. There was so much food, we couldn't eat it all. The next night we stepped into the restaurant to get some wings at happy hour. The wings there are super good. But we will admit the service was pretty bad. Just not on the ball with getting more drinks etc. If you're not into questionable service, just get yourself some fantastic take away.
I smelt this delicious restaurant 1/2 a block away and decided that we were definitely going. Choofas did not disappoint. We had the chicken wings, Beef ribs, pulled pork and a seafood salad. The service was fast, the place was clean and the price was right. Quality bbq food. Highly recommend.
