Don,t bother going there. Have bought takeaway from this shop on a semi regular basis for a number of years.Previously the food and service have always been very good and to a high standard. Called in last night to buy 2 chickens and large peas and gravy. 7:00pm and they only had a 1/2 chicken left in the warmer. Not what I wanted, but bought it anyway. Got home and found the chicken was dry and almost inedible. Gave it to the cats. The large peas and gravy was not what I ordered or paid for. The container was 85% gravy and obviously they had run out of peas, because we measured one tablespoon full of peas in this large container, I phoned and spoke to the "manager" this morning and very politely expressed the problem and my disappointment. After trying to talk over me she offered no apology or hint of rectifying the problem. I felt deceived and cheated having paid for a product that I did not receive. During my conversation with the "manager" I discovered the previous owners had sold the business, which explains the poor quality, quantity of food and service. Very foolish and short sighted way of running their newly purchased business and the goodwill component of that purchase. I will never go back and will never recommend it to friends, as I have done in the past. The "manager" needs to take a crash course in customer relations.....Very poor....Never again..... Back to Chicken Chef on Main Nth Rd. Always great food, value and service. Suggest others do the same.
We went there last Friday. I ordered a whole chook and chips. I paid, and waited, and waited, and waited. When I saw the guy in front of me had been served I was sure I would be next. When that wasn't the case I went to the counter and asked when I would get my order, only to be told that they had no chooks left. I couldn't believe it. It took her a long time before she offered to at least refund my money. They obviously took more orders than they had chickens. Mistakes happen, but she could have done something to rectify the problem. She just said they had no food left. I won't be back, that's for sure.
Can't even get the basics right. The quality of food has been slipping for a while but the final straw was being yelled at across the building by a staff member. One lady was behind the counter yelling at someone into her phone, when I looked over from the post office a second staff member yelled out "what the hell are you looking at?!" Like it was strange to look up when someone around you is yelling!? I can overlook the inability to get an order right missed items, packing wrong items together etc, it was my local chip shop for years but that kind of rudeness from staff crosses the line.
Change of ownership - don't go there! They cannot do their maths and or either they can do their maths but they just rip you off!. I tried to buy a small chips $3.90 + x3 chicken nuggets $2.50 + atm charge $1 and first they tried to charge me $9.90! And I told the woman it was wrong - then she tried to charge me $8.50! And I said it was wrong - the total is $7.40! And she could not work out her maths and refused to charge me the correct total because she couldn't work it out! So then she argued that she thought it was $8.50 when it was clearly $7.40 and had a massive argument with me! So I paid the money because she didn't understand it was incorrect - only to sit down and eat it when my friend said she did the same thing yesterday to another lady and ripped her off too!
Very rude, unfriendly staff. Cold soggy chips. Salads tasted like they were a week old. I asked for a take away cup and the staff member made me pay an extra $2.50 for it after i had already paid for my order. Very unfriendly. Would never go back.
The chicken will never be as good as mine. But no one will know because they can never buy from Chicken Castle, as it is always CLOSED.
