All the Yumchaa dim sim at Chef Wong Hawthorn are handmade, fresh, and absolutely delicious! They have so many options, and the best part is you can order by the piece — perfect if you want to try a bit of everything without getting too full. The staff are super friendly and helpful, making sure every dish is on point. Love it! Highly recommend this place if you love dim sim!
Cosy and comfortable vibe to enjoy an absolutely delightful meal. The food is so amazing, every single bite made me sigh with contentment. Every single item is made in house You can be assured of their quality, therefore make plans to drop in! You will thank me for it!
Radish cakes were only warm when served. Egg tart's pastry was soggy, as they were made and kept in a cabinet full of steam. We've visited Chef Wong in Huntingdale on countless occasions, so for a change, we decided to try their Hawthorn East location, even though the food is exactly the same!nThe venue is considerably larger and to be honest, the staff here are noticeably more friendly and attentive. As always, we loved the food — consistent and delicious!
I’ve visited Chef Wong Huntingdale in the past and loved it, and thought I would check out their Hawthorn East store. It was just as delicious, and noticeably a larger store with more seating space and tables they even had a cute outdoor area which would be nice in some warmer weather. They have the same concept of ordering by the piece, which is great for picky eaters and sharing when not everyone wants the same thing!nnThe sesame prawn toast was super yum, with a generous helping of the prawn paste on top - so crispy and crunchy. There’s a photo of this one attached. I’m also a big fan of the footballs, and these must be the biggest ones I’ve seen if you’ve never tried the footballs, they have some slightly sweet flavored meat inside the glutinous crispy shell.nnThe team are also so friendly and welcoming, which makes all the difference when you’re sitting down to enjoy a meal. Highly recommend both the Hawthorn East and Huntingdale stores just note that this is a smaller store with less seating than the Hawthorn East one.
