We’ve been to Chef Wong a few times and really fall in love with this great yum cha restaurant. It’s well located near Camberwell junction with convenient street parking.nnThey have a good selection of dim sum dishes, taste very good as they’re made from fresh ingredients and steamed to order. One of the best part is that you may order by piece so can try more varieties of dim sum if there’s only one or two of you.nnThe service is great, attentive staff with great attitude. This is a good brunch place for two people, family or a group of friends. It’s now one of our favourite restaurants.
Food was delicious, restaurant was clean. I highly recommend trying their chicken dumplings, leaf wrapped chicken rice dish and their rice noodle rolls. If you are craving yumcha, this is the place to go!
Surprisingly nice food!nStaff are friendly but the service is a bit slow. Nice place to dim sum craving at night.nThe restaurant has family vibe, small but cozy
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chef Wong in Hawthorn with my family and friends and it was an exceptional experience. From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming staff made us feel right at home.nnThe true star of the night, however, was the food. Each dish was a masterpiece crafted by the incredibly talented chef, who clearly puts heart and soul into every plate. Every bite was a delightful balance of flavors, cooked to perfection and presented beautifully.nnThe food was exceptional, and it’s clear that this restaurant is passionate about what they do. The chef and the manager even took the time to come out and chat with us, which added a personal touch to the evening.nnOverall, Chef Wong offers not just a meal but a complete experience that celebrates great food and exceptional hospitality. I can’t recommend it highly enough and look forward to returning soon!
A unique restaurant that breaks all the rules to traditional yumcha. They serve traditional dumplings & Cantonese classics all from scratch, with over 40 years of experience in preparing each wrapper. Most importantly, you can order per piece and not for awkward servings of 3 AND AT NIGHT TOO!nn- har gao, scallop prawn, prawn chive 4.5/5n- coriander pork prawn duck 2.5/5n- xiao long bao hk style 3/5n- prawn steamed rice roll 3.5/5n- fried beancurd prawn roll 4.25/5n- fried glutinous rice mince ball 4.25/5n- bbq pork pastry 2/5 - too sweet!n- chilli pork prawn wonton dumplings 4.5/5n- sesame prawn toast 3.8/5n- radish cake 2/5n- chicken feet/pheonix claw 3/5n- bbq pork bao bun 3.8/5n- glutinous rice w chicken 5/5n- beef hor fun noodles 3/5n- crispy glazed eggplant 4.5/5n- hk egg tart 4/5n- durian bun 4/5n- tiramisu 4.5/5nnTheir shrimp & seafood dumplings were my absolute favourites, so plump and juicy, biggest that l’ve seen in a wrapper. Although the wrapper was thicker than preferred, so much flavour was packed in each dumpling. XLB is made traditionally ie. without soup. It was pretty yum but l still like the fun soup method haha. Least faves were the noodles & chicken feet, which didn’t have that msg sodium goodness. Crispy eggplant is a must when available.nnTofu pudding was okay, HK egg tarts were better but the Steph’s tiramisu display is EVEN BETTER - one of the better tiramisus I’ve had in Melbourne. So creamy and aromatic, especially that ube.nnDefinitely would love them to open a franchise in the West!
