I want to compliment this office as they were very professional and understanding in regards to my medical condition. Thank you. Word of advice; It is best to walk in the office, instead of trying to call.
It is absolutely cringeworthy witnessing and hearing staff here yell at people whose first language is not English: "YOU. NEED. TO. GO. ONLINE. ON. MYGOV, SIR. WE WILL NOT DO THIS FOR YOU." I have visited 4 times to ensure a JobSeeker application was accepted, genuinely sat down with someone who ensured me I had completed every form correctly. Claim is now missing from 'MyGov' and heard nothing since. What is also hilarious is that after doing the bare minimum to assist absolutely everyone there, they finish with "No worries darling!" I sincerely wish this organisation a lifetime of pain and disappointment.
It has been a nightmare trying to book an appointment over the phone for my mothers pension. It hangs up on you all the time. Went to this service centre as online it says you can book appointments at a services centre to only be turned away and told to call the number. Go to the south Yarra centre to be told you can book at centres. Absolute stuff around due to incompetent receptionist. My mother doesn’t have a car. How on earth are elderly people supposed to get this sort of stuff done if they don’t have someone to help them. Shocking!
If you are living with a disability, MH disability, elderly, ESL, refuge or indigenous EXPECT impatience and lack of empathy. I've experienced it and I've witnessed it many times. It's humiliating. They act like they're doing you a reluctant favour! They get paid a good wage for a VERY secure job! It's always computer says no. I went to Wagga centre link to get a systems error fixed when I was there, the people at Footscray would not look into it. They didn't even understand their own procedures when I tried to explain it. Wagga centre link fixed my issue in 30 mins and I was back paid. That being said my personal experience with medical certificates, OT assessment and apply for DSP for mental health was very easy...
Just an FYI the staff here have told me they're NOT trained in managing child care subsidies. You'll need to contact the main call centre for help, so don't waste your energy coming in here if your matter relates to this!
If you have any disabilities at all they will treat you very poorly, especially if you are autistic. I come in and be polite but they still treat you like YOU have done something wrong. It is not our faults if your lives are bad, stop taking it out on customers. Disgusting.
First visit to the Footscray centrelink office last week and the 2 x reception staff were excellent. They were very personable and really wanted to help. There was also no wait, which was the last thing I expected!
Came here to confirm details for my disaster payment as I was asked to, attended by a rude and impatient staff who asked me purpose of my visit. I told him I claimed my disaster payment and here to confirm my ID. He was not even listening properly and asked me for my Centrelink number. I'm on TR visa so I don't have one. He then responded with negative attitude saying what to claim for if you don't have a number. I had to repeat myself I was there to confirm my ID as I already claimed. He was going to argue with me despite my politeness then I told him I had a customer number instead. Another man came as a customer and this staff treated him different informative and polite. I am disappointed to see this quality of customer service.
To the staff at Centrelink Footscray...I salute you! I am a currently unemployed hospitality worker that attended your venue this morning to be met by quite a large queue. The line quickly moved but then the wait began. Due to social distancing the manager stopped anyone else entering the building as to protect the ones inside. The line went around the block. I can't imagine how crazy it could have gotten if not managed this way. The poor staff copped a lot of flack from those waiting. Patience is not practised by a lot of people. Centrelink Footscray, thank-you for being patient today and good luck with the days ahead. To those needing to attend Centrelink, be mindful of the staff and their mental states right now. We are all in this together! And hospo staff going in.....Show them why we are hospitality and why Melbourne is the hospitality capital.
Been quite stress out due to not being able to work and I have to applaud staff member nhan ai for making me feel so comfortable and at ease. I was expecting a long and tedious visit but she made it really simple and was very helpful organising the right claim I needed to make and assisting with all my questions. Try going there when she's there definitely!
