First time visiting and was quite the surprise. We attended with a group booking and setting and layout was good. We found drinks and meals quite well priced. The bar staff were really friendly and helpful. Being a very long table it was good that multiple table numbers were on it and they also took a name for orders. Sadly that’s where the excellent service ended. There was a definite failure in communications with the servers, or cooks to the servers. Servers were walking around and around with meals not knowing who ordered them. Even though a table number provided and a name, there clearly were not given that info, or worse sum they did but paid absolutely no attention to it. Either way it constantly interrupted the celebrations. Made for yelling across the tables to assist them and wrong meals being handed out. The place is very nice and food was lovely but sadly a very large failure. Sadly other reviewers have also commented on service. Definitely a failure on process or training.
First time visit and I was not impressed, ordered the 200g eye fillet cooked medium. The steak was lucky to be 100g and was overcooked, well-done. Overpriced and under value. Won't be back.
Good selection behind the bar. I prefer to drink drink Johnny Green or Gold and they had both which was fantastic. We had a function which included platters served. Platter were a mix of hot and cold and were laid out well and were much better than the pie/sausage rolls option you get at some venues. Staff were the standout. Very easy to deal with and happy to serve. Compliments to the staff. Thank you.
We visited the Centenary Tavern regarding a potential birthday celebration. We initially spoke with Jared and decided to book the Sumner Room for the function. Getting closer to the function we had a couple of questions re dietary restrictions for two guests and we spoke with Sinead. We had chosen the alternate drop menu and were able to replace two of the meals to accommodate our guests with meals they would enjoy.nOn the day of our function the room had been set up beautifully including white tablecloths, a cake table, tea and coffee and colourful helium balloons. We also had the very friendly Mikey, our barman for the day as we had opted for our guests being able to access drinks from the bar located within the Sumner Room.nWe had 33 adults and six children. Everyone had a wonderful day. The food was exceptional, many guests kept saying how delicious their meals were. We cannot speak highly enough of all the staff we engaged with, nothing was ever an issue and they contributed to making my birthday a truly memorable day. The customer service we received was outstanding and we would certainly choose the Centenary Tavern for future functions. Most importantly, not just functions, we also just go there for a meal. The service and the food is always fantastic.
The staff at this place are always super friendly and go out of the way to ensure you have a good time. The food as well is always up to standard. My wife and I shared the full ribs and it was plenty enough for two meals. The burgers are delicious and well priced for the size.
