The synagogue is well situated in the North Caulfield area surrounded by pleasant leafy streets. However this can be deceptive. There are security guards outside the building almost around the clock often armed. Even passers by living in the area can be under constant suspicion. On Saturdays and holy days the security spills out into the busy suburban street and they have every corner in the vicinity of the synagogue covered. They sometimes take the liberty to question passers by. Their constant presence in a public area does not seem appropriate or warranted.

Lots of fun with my 1.5 year old at Caulfiled bubs this morning.
I parked nearby and was immediately harassed by the 'security' and promptly interrogated. Although i was not attending and was nearby as a coincidence, as a citizen of Israel i am especially disturbed by the experience. There was no reason to do this i did nothing suspicious and the security would not accept my answers to their intrusive questions. I feel rather alienated from the jewish community in this instance - since when was it okay to hire security and seemingly encourage them to harass members of public?
Underutilized. Needs to be a more encompassing community centre providing facilities for young & old to participate in activities.nFar to insular. Should be more open to the general Jewish community, not just members alone.
