This is the perfect place to begin or end your Southern Scenic Route journey through the Catlins. We offer fantastic espresso coffee using world class Allpress Coffee. Our menu boasts homemade cafe style food, traditional fish and chip takeaways and all the tasty NZ treats all at reasonable prices. Bookings available for during hours and after hours by arrangement Ph: 034158040.

Friendly and good fish and chips. A bit deserted, possibly because of covid. Hope business picks up.
friendly staff and nice coffee but need more selection of food in the cabinet to choose from. maybe make some fresh sandwiches or more cakes/slices
Proper cheese rolls. Epic. Makes a cheese scone taste a bit dry. Gooey melted cheese in toasted and rolled bread. See why they are a big deal.
Reasonable cafe. Acceptable coffee with the default setting set to single-shot.
The first cafe we found open coming from Invercargill via the Caitlin's heritage trail. Had a wonderful coffee and a plate of bacon and eggs. First place to actually cook our eggs perfectly. A great place to stop and watch the world go by. Highly recommend.

Ok big space, staff were kind and put on fire for us as we were cold, some gifts for sale pretty cool
Basic stop if you’re in the area for a quick bite. Stopped here for an eggs and bacon breakfast. Simple and no-frills. Not sure what the other options at Owaka are, but we were driving through after a stop at Surat Bay and this was a good option for breakfast. Nothing wrong, just simple and basic, hence the 2 stars.
