The Cathay Cinema showcases the latest films from around the world as well as screening opera and our various film festivals during the year.

Our 3 screens are equipped with the latest in digital projection and our largest cinema being equipped for 3D films

If you are coming in to see a film why not also stop by next door at the cafe cinema and partake in our 'movie meal deal' which allows you to get a movie and meal together for $36. This includes one main course and any movie excluding 3D.

14th August 2025. We have just seen the film BURTON - the story of how Richard Burton became Richard Burton - one of the best all time male actors. This was one of the very best films we have seen in many years. Great script, great actors, great cinematography and REALLY great town for the early part of the film. In our humble opinions we think a 9+/10.
Don't answer phone booked tickets online turned up and they gave my seats to someone else.nAlso had a run in with the guy there we booked tickets online for my sons birthday to find that they dont let kids in to the theater after 7pm. My son is 7 turning 8.nnHe kept saying they disturb everyone in the movies i had explained we drove 45 minutes to come and he kept saying its the rules . Why isn't it stated on the website.nWaste my time, gas for vehicle & road user chargers for my ute and a unhappy family. Thanks alot mate
We are so lucky to have the Cinemas. Comfy, clean seating, great venue and staff. Oops! Mustn't forget the chocolate coated boysenberry ice-cream.
Rang at short notice to get into Downton Abbey as it was raining and we were in Paihia on holiday and the guy on the phone was absolutely amazing nothing too much trouble to get in and get directions to theatre just so welcoming as was the lovely theatre a great asset to Kerikeri and of course we loved Downton Abbey!!
I took my daughters to Cathay Cinema on a weekday afternoon to see a movie after-school. It was my first time visiting Cathay Cinema. I was impressed by the convenient online booking system, the friendly and welcoming staff, and cleanliness and comfort of the theater. It was also great being able to grab a decent coffee at the cafe next door too!
