Nice mexical restaurant with Superb Tacos and Exceptional Beer and beer mixers. Very spacious able to accomodare big parties. The food is tasty and diferent, portions are average but Value for money. Decko is playfull and ventilation is good. Posisioned at the hart of the Coal Yeard development, it can provide an enjoyable night out in the Kings Cross are.
Really pleased with this place! The prices were quite steep considering we didn't order much between us. The sauces in particular were disappointingly expensive as I would have loved to have had them all on the tacos already. However it is understandable considering its central location. We had a lovely outdoor table which I would recommend over inside as it can feel a bit cramped and busy. The staff were all really friendly but the menu felt quite limited. Perfect for a light dinner in King's Cross.
We were pleasantly surprised by the ambience even though initially I was a bit u sure when I read other reviews. It was one of the only spots in that area serving food after 9.30 pm. The mushroom and prawn tacos, and chicken tinga were all very delicious and we absolutely loved the vibe! The staff was friendly and attentive. The music and vibe were awesome! We also loved sampling the 5 salsas and the flavours were genuine!! Brought back our memories from the trip to Mexico! Enjoyed and will be back again.
Great selection of tequilas and mexcals !! We enjoyed El Pastor Frozen Margarita;- We had amazing prawn and chicken tacos. Pork tacos was ok nothing special. Taco skin is slightly powdery not to my taste. Definitely be back for margaritas
Really good. The guacamole was amongst the best I’ve ever tasted and came with a refillable bowl of nachos and pork scratchings. Personal favourites were the Baja and Prawn Tacos. I wasn’t a fan of the frozen margarita as it was a bit salty but the horchata more than made up for it. The standout of the meal was the corn cake dessert!
This is a nice place to have Mexican food. All food tastes great but unfortunately it is overpriced for the amount of food you get. Also the Margaritas are too expensive.
What a great spot, both heated & covered outdoor seating and a nice indoor seating area as well. We had a very sweet nice server, the margy's were tasty we had the house one and it was great we just added a shot to it and the food was really good mexican street food style. We had the chicken tinga tostadas which were really good and probably our fave dish; the baja fish tacos which were right up there with the tostatdas super fresh and greta batter; and the pastor tacos which were 'ok' just a little dry. The salsas are really good too, we had a great time. Go!
As a Mexican living in London, I had heard A LOT of hype around El Pastor. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s all just “hype.” We ordered guacamole, frijoles refritos, gringa quesadilla, esquites, 5 salsas and 3 orders of tacos prawn, fish, and chicken. What can I say, but I was not floored by the food. In particular, I was surprised that a real Mexican restaurant would serve stale chips, beans that tasted like they came from a tin and trust me, I know what REAL frijoles refritos should taste like, and would charge £1 per portion of salsa. I should also add that the esquites were not to good standard — way, WAY too much mayo, and lacked flavours. I’m not sure if it was just “an off day” for the restaurant or the staff, but I was surprised by the lack of hospitable customer service for which Mexican restaurants are known for. To give you an idea, the servers kept changing, no one checked to see if we wanted more drinks, and no one seemed aware of where we were in our dining journey ie. did we want to order more food or want to get our bill?. Honestly, the staff seemed miserable to be working there. It is important to note that I arrive there when they first opened and it was not busy at 12:30pm on a Sunday. It’s a combination of my overall experience and the lack of true, authentic Mexican flavours that make me give El Pastor a 2-star review. If I can be honest, I found the food unimpressive and overpriced. For our £100 bill, I expected to have walked away with a stellar rating. Instead, it’s a combination of the things just mentioned and the bad refried beans that put the nail in the coffin for me! As a Mexican who’s lived in London for 12 years, I can assure anyone reading this review that I can provide a list of other Mexican resultants who offer authentic Mexican food and flavours with great customer service at a lesser price. P.S. your tortillas need work. They fall apart and are way thinner than any other taco place I’ve been to in London
Really good. Awesome set of Tacos. The margaritas were really well made on the day :
Authentic mexican exeprience. Tacos Al Pastor are out of this world! The short ribs propells you beyond anything I have ever tasted in mexican food. It is not your fajitas mexican place. It is your real mexican authentic restaurant! Try it out! You won't be disappointed
