3.5 starsnIt’s funny how two different pools built in much the same period can have totally different impacts. Unlike the rebadged Revesby Pool, Caringbah Leisure Centre retains a bit of 1960s optimism. We liked visiting and left feeling happy and refreshed.nnThe main, Olympic-sized 9-lane pool slots into a gap between rows of red brick, medium density housing: a pocket of softly fading aquamarine. On one side there’s a raised lawn for picnickers if you plan on spending the day. There’s also a shallow pool for younger kids, and a wading pool with a sun shelter with a narrow lawn between them for effective parental supervision. A lifeguard perches on a raised metal chair angled between all three areas, catching our eye in her bright yellow and red.nnThe deep-end goes down to 1.8 meters. There were less prohibitions than at Revesby pool, though banning the “manu” was new. Guessing there may be more Kiwis living in the local area? We also had to refrain from “layback type bombs”. Without tequila this felt quite easy to achieve. I was however pleased to see them ban coaching. I often feel sorry for kids having technique forced upon them during weekend play.nnParking is plentiful with both a dedicated car park and street parking. Entry is $8.70 but do bear in mind they don’t accept cash.
It’s a full set of pools. Often used by the locals. Definitely in need of a renovation with missing tiles and general upkeep
Cash is legal currency. It is appalling that this facility doesn’t accept cash, especially when your clientele includes children. Hopefully a members bill will soon reinforce a legal mandate to accept cash. Staff here are poorly trained. Making a phone call to the centre? -forget it
A steamy winter morning swim, it’s not getting in that’s the problem, it’s getting out.nAt approx. 30* 25mtrs Program pool is a little to warm for lap swimming in summer.
Dumb woman with scary makeup and atrocious hair at the counter charged us to watch someone do their already overpriced swimming lessons. She was swiping on her phone and drinking a coke while speaking too me - automatic termination in my opinion!!!
