Capri Theatre

About

The Capri is a heritage listed, Art Deco cinema, run mostly by a network of generous volunteers.

Story

The Capri is an independent not-for-profit cinema run by a network of generous volunteers. Built in 1941, it is heritage listed and houses the Theatre Organ Society’s unique world class theatre pipe organ.

The profit from every ticket you buy goes back in to the restoration of this iconic South Australian building and the WurliTzer organ.

Why not come along for a bit of old world atmosphere and see the organ rise out of the stage and play in the evening session on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday evenings, 15 minutes before the scheduled screening time.

Delightful period venue, good sound for a live show! It was a sell-out so the theatre was packed and I felt a little too warm! Would've appreciated the air con cooler, or at least more movement of air. Seats were comfortable with good view to the stage and performance. Parking was a little tricky especially being a Saturday night and long weekend. Ushers and ticket staff were really top class .. as was the performance! I would recommend the Capri theatre.
Great night at beautiful restored Capri. Lovely 15minutes performance on the mighty spectacular Wurlitzer organ before 'The Duke' began.
Went here during summer school break with my 5 yo son and loved it. Quiet and peaceful with a lovely, old age cinema feel you’d expect from a heritage listed site. Did not get to see the pipe organ, so will surely go again.
I bloody love this cinema. Immaculately restored art Deco cinema which is staffed by volunteers from the local community. Best cinema in Adelaide by an absolute mile. Treat yourself and know you're doing something cool.
What a beautiful quaint Theatre, we loved the feel of stepping back in time, the upkeep is gorgeous, they have done a great job with this place, the staff were kind, helpful and were even interested in asking our children what they thought of the Theatre and the movie they had just seen, We loved it.
A nostalgic romp back into a forgotten age of cinema. I hope it never changes, I love the volunteers the velvet curtains the fold-up chairs . Who doesn't like a big organ? Well nobody.
Great cinema and theater , the place is beatiful and heritage, definitely one of the things you have to do if you are visiting adelaide, totally worth it. Every tuesday and saturday there is organ concert before the movie, the staff is very nice and helpful. Totally recomended .
One of our fav places to go! Charming, stunning building. Cheap tickets and lovely staff. Makes you feel like you are stepping back in time
Hasn't changed in over 100 years, art Deco eat your heart out. Has an organ play for 20 minutes a few times a week, worth a look, a giant organ, like, giant .
I was a teenager & invited along for my first experience by a friend who had an electronic organ. He was a truck driver named Tom Russell & my Dad trusted him to look after me. The memories of that event and feelings that the Wurlitzer's sounds created are still with me!
