The Capitol Theatre is a beautiful old style theatre from bygone days. It has a very rich, grand and impressive appearance. It's comfortable and one of my favourite Sydney Theatres. The staff are courteous and the customer entry to the theatre is always a smooth and efficient operation.
We recently saw Sister Act The Musical at the iconic Capitol Theatre, and what a fantastic experience! The theatre itself is stunning, with its unique design making it stand out from other theatres.nnThe acoustics were crystal clear, even from our seats around half way back of the dress circle.nnConvenience is a major plus, with easy access from Central Station, just a short walk down Pitt St and left onto Campbell St or a quick trip on the light rail. If you are driving there is affordable parking nearby.nnOverall, I highly recommend the Capitol Theatre. Its blend of historic charm, excellent amenities, and top-notch entertainment, making it a must-visit destination for anyone who loves live performances.
Located at 13 Campbell Street, Haymarket, New South Wales, Australia nCapital Theatre is a beautiful old building which was placed on the New South Wales State Heritage List in 1999. It was built from 1893-1928 and designed by Henry Eli While and John Eberson. The site was originally used by early settlers as a market place for produce and hay, giving this area its name “Haymarket “.nWe came to see the musical “Sister Act” and had a great time although the show itself was quite different from the movie which I have to admit was a little disappointing and I was also disappointed that Casey Donovan was not playing the lead character as advertised. I was really looking forward to seeing her. Another thing I was a little disappointed about was that I didn’t recognise any of the music, none of the songs from the movie made it its way into the musical.nThe building itself is beautiful. I loved the Roman statues and the little gargoyles figurines around the theatre. The building is quite beautifully designed and preserved I thought. The painting on artwork on the ceilings are beautiful. The staircase is also amazing. It’s quite easy to get around for people with mobility issues if you are on the stalls or lower floor. The theatre is kept tidy and clean. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Just a short stroll away from Central Station and the light rail is just out the front door so very easy to get to. We had a really great time here and I can’t wait to come back for my next show. Especially loved that we got to meet Rhonda Burchmore and Genevieve Lemon at the stage door afterwards and get my photo with them. They were so gracious. Thumbs up from me
Always love coming to the theatre at the Capitol. The decor is beautiful and the staff amazing. The acoustics are brilliant and the stage settings really set the scene for the ballet , drama or musical you are viewing.
My daughter and I went to see Chicago here. We were in row M and were happy there, but then someone tall came and sat in front of me, so I couldn't see. I went to see if they had booster seats but they only have them for kids so the lady usher went and checked for me to see if she could move us, we ended up being moved to row D. I was so thankful that the lady helped me to enjoy the show. The theatre is stunning. The show itself was Fantastic, we enjoyed the whole thing. The cast was amazing. It was so nice to see Anthony Warlow applauding the other cast members after their solos. I would highly recommend seeing this show.
