Best Bookshop in region - sooo many books that you may even find it hard to move around certain sections, but do not take this as a bad thing. If you are a lover of books, you got to block out at least 2-3hrs for this place! 5 out of 5, super-awesome...
A lot of books in a free order, so it might be quite a quest to find the ones you are looking for. There are some basic categories, but nothing is guaranteed and your, say, favourite detective author might be found in Wellbeing or Sci-Fi. Seriously entertaining mess. But you can ask a local lady and she will guide you don't bother asking a dude though, he's not the sharpest tool in that shed, you'll just get irritated and waste your time. Can recommend the shop, just add more time and patience!
As hard as I tried to resist the temptation to buy more books, it took me all of one minute to succumb and I eventually acquired three. Canty's is a biblioholic's Paradise and has something for everyone - you just need to have the time to browse the rows.
It's a traditional second-hand bookshop in an era when physical bookshops of any kind hardly exist anymore. Come with plenty of carry bags and enough time to properly browse!
Great selection, literally overflowing with books great atmosphere and the staff know where just about everything is too!
Great if you have the time to trawl. Prices are ok, stock is fabulous and the owner is helpful and friendly. Would visit when I am on canberra again.
Very very broad array of books, the only issue is you need time to go through the books and work your way through literally piles of books .

I'm pretty sure at this stage Canty's is a Canberra institution. I remember shopping here years ago, the first time I visited Canberra, and little has changed in that time. Towering shelves, stacked high and deep with books on just about any topic you'd care to name, surrounded by piles of books around them like a forest full of mushrooms. I spent hours here and will spend hours more, i hope this place never changes as it is in my mind the quintessential bookshop.
Hands-down the best bookshop in Canberra. Just the smell of books is worth it for anyone fond of books. Absolutely the best place for shopping for Birthday or Christmas presents.
