Serving breakfast, lunch & dinner, Canteen Kitchen & Bar has great spaces to gather with friends or hang out with the family. Share a stack of organic blue corn tortilla’s with the kids for breakfast, a burger with our craft beers on tap with your mates, or maybe a fresh salad & coffee for a quick lunch date. Or you may just prefer to hang out the front in the sun after a surf, swim or run on the beach and refuel with one of our specials of the day.

We had the Locals Dinner special. Paprika chicken gnocchi. The dish was full of flavour and portion was small. Upside, space for dessert. Chocolate Torte had good marzipan and chocolate flavour garnished with candy floss, cream and honey crunch. The Ice Cream sandwich was pleasant. The restaurant wasn't busy and the service was good, we weren't rushed along and could relax and enjoy the evening.
Special shout-out to young Tamika for taking the extra time to interact with us. It was greatly appreciated & gave us a way better impression of the restaurant by seeing staff aiming to go over and above with their customers. Lisa has an amazing customer service delivery & it's easy to see she cares about her team & customers. My finance' had a cocktail which was perfect! The atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon was great, service was prompt & staff were polite, happy & attentive. Highly recommend going here if you want a good Coolum experience.
A busy little hive opposite the beach. A great atmosphere. We were there when several other groups attended but we didn’t have to wait long time for food. Staff did there best. We had a range of dishes from steak to barramundi with fish tacos the highlight and our scallops the worst. The scallops were small, cold meant to be hot and totally la led any flavour. Meanwhile the fish tacos were fresh and tasty. I’d visit again and just hope they had a rough night.
We walked past a few times and it was always packed. They were nice and found us a table for two on short notice. They did warn us ahead of time that there would be a wait on the food. The wait was long, so thankfully they warned us. The food was amazing though. We had the Shanghai pork dumplings, and the sauce/toppings were so well balanced. We had the spaghettini with prawns and chorizo, and the Red curry. All were so full of flavour, every bite was delicious. Will have to visit next time we are here :
Overpriced and unfriendly staff. We got the dip and bread and it was literally like a garnish sized drop of dip. The fish tacos were better, and relatively cheap. The mains were certainly nothing to brag about.
What a fabulous lunch place. We totally recommend the Barramundi and battered Nz Cod as a main. It was fresh and cooked perfectly . The batter and crispy skin was so good.
We recently had a big family event at this fabulous bar/restaurant. We cannot speak highly enough of everyone. From booking to the day. Troy and all of the team were amazing. They ensured everyone was welcome, fed and 'watered!' The food is amazing. The atmosphere perfect and in my opinion it is one of the best views in Coolum to dine. If you are a couple or a group - don't hesitate to book Canteen Kitchen and Bar.
This place deserves better reviews. We’ve been coming here for years, every time we visit Coolum & the food is modern, tasty & really well presented. There’s an extensive choice of cocktail’s, beautifully presented & delicious. And the ambiance is great, sea views! This place represents Coolum in my view. I’m slightly baffled by the negative reviews as we’ve eaten here at least 10 times & even on crazy busy days we’ve never had a bad experience. Don’t go if you don’t want to pay for the whole experience & if your waiter/waitress is having a bad day, perhaps try having a little compassion :
Second visit after a good first impression. Service was pleasant but slow. Value for money was sadly lacking, terribly small dishes. Quality of the dishes was okay to good. Will return sometime maybe however many others to choose from in the area.
Had a lovely lunch with one of my besties after a swim across the road. We started with a cocktail and scallops, then we shared the crispy pork red curry, yum! The service was quick and friendly. Great position across from the beach. Highly recommend!
