I attended girls grammar for the first few years of primary school, and returned for years 7-9 of highschool.nnI was being abused and neglected at home, and I remember being pulled aside - just once - for the caked blood in my ears. For months on end I would attend with either a single apple, carrot and margarine on bread prepared for my lunch, or nothing at all, and would beg lunch money.nnThe teachers watched my sunny nature destroyed and then blamed me for being weird, dark and antisocial. By highschool I was being fined for not having the hair ties or socks to comply with uniform policy, as if that was my fault. As if I hadn't completely checked out of life during my multiple childhood nervous breakdowns.nI don't remember a single teacher at any age actually asking if I was okay, or investigating what was going on at home.nWhenever I pulled myself up from weeks of leave, I'd be saddled with so much work to catch up that it drove me away and into authentic truancy.nnI can't remember much of their actual education, besides some truly vindictive and oblivious nasties in highschool including the principal, but it wouldn't overcome their failing me so very badly.nnI'm still recovering from my childhood at 35... And they let it happen.
I attended Canberra Girls Grammar School from Year 1 until Year 12. Although I found the Senior School to be tolerable, I found the Junior School absolute torture. My teachers from Year 1-6 where old fashioned, cruel and ridiculously strict. It was a unsupportive and cold environment. When I left I had emotional scares from my experience, and a very low self confidence.
A great place for kids especially girls. I loved the Girls with Grit program. And really fun.
Best schooling for child.
