The walk is interesting. We have tried to walk up and down. We have found out that we were able to walk to Westleigh. It is amazing! It would take us 2-4 hours to complete the trip. Water is essential! We must carry sufficient water to last the entire trip.
Went on a rainy day… very adventurous walk due to rain lack of signs to show the path. But if you are an adventurous bunch you can always have a great time. Near the water areas you find leeches so be mindful. If not for leeches it’s all good. During rain the water does over flow in some areas so be mindful of water depth before getting in.
The Callicoma Walk was a pretty challenging hike, not just because of the walk itself but knowing where to go.nnUsing google maps I drove to the location that took me to the Lakes of Cherry brook at the beginning. Found pretty easy parking on the streets that weren’t limited. Loved the trail that surrounded the small lake, It was easy to walk around and has a park nearby for kids to enjoy.nnTook me a bit to realise that it wasn’t the actual hike, I unfortunately didn’t stay 100% on track and just followed where the signs took me. After a bit of walking deeper into the forest area I reached an intersection that connected to more trails, upon trial and error I finally found myself on the right track again only to turn back due to the interference of fauna and how steep and tight the trail has gotten.nnWas a bit anxious to go by myself, would highly recommend doing this with a group of people. Also bring lots of water, the trails I took did not had any baublers other than the one near the park.nOverall I would definitely come back again but have an actual map and some people to come along with!
Callicoma walk is a very long but thrilling adventure. We saw several beautiful plants and scenes during the walk. There were also several sub parts of the walk and a playground. Some small obstacle courses which was quite fun but short. We were kind of lost for over 10 minutes figuring where we were but when we did we were very off track.overall though it’s close and very long giving you more things to explore.
Its nice walk and cool rain forest merge into another walk. Council should put more sign, train information map and grade information. Overall nice family day out as kids play is great and option to have a drink or icecream from Ampol.
