It was my daughter's birthday coming when I first googled Carol and her business. I lost all hope to find anything that can accommodate demands of many parents dairy free, gluten free, eggs free, nut free, low sugar and tasty! - but Carol’s magical recipes made an impossible dream to an absolutely wonderful experience and delicious cake!!!! Thank you very much, Carol! And everyone loved your beautiful and delicious cupcakes too! Five starts from me! And lots of gratitude for your wonderful work! Sydney is a very lucky place to have you around!
I have never tasted any baking of Carols that wasn't delicious, from cakes to vegan muffins. I would recommend her for any events big or small. She will go out of her way to help, and to understand what you would like. Her baking not only tastes delicious, but looks great too. She is booked in for our wedding cake October this year and I wouldn't have anyone else. 10/10
This is my second cake that I have had Carol make for me for special birthdays, one my own, 65th. Both were fruitcakes with beautiful light icing and nicely decorated. Carol excelled herself once again. One of my favourite cakes are fruit cakes, and I am pretty touchy about fruitcakes. The special ingredient Carol seems to put into all of her cooking that apart from my late Mum and my wonderful Mother in Law puts in is LOVE. You can taste this special ingredient.
We have had several cakes made by The Polished Spoon. They are so delicious and fresh and made exactly as we have ordered them. Their presentation is second to none. Carol is so professional and extremely talented. Prices are reasonable and definitely worth the end result. We will be back!!!
Carol is amazing. Her ability to select and measure ingredients that none dominates, but all are finely balanced, is exceptional. I have been treated to her cakes and cupcakes several times. Some were lavish, like her orange and almond cake. The other time her wholemeal spelt chocolate cupcakes allowed gentle sweetness barely colour the prehistoric flavours of spelt and chocolate. All were superb.
Beautiful wedding cake, definitely worth the money especially when you consider the quality of the decoration and attention to detail that must have taken hours. We were thrilled and had many lovely comments and not just on the decoration but also the flavor and texture. Communication and the time taken to ensure we were getting what we wanted was also excellent. Can thoroughly recommend.
Stay away from this cake maker if you are bride wanting quality or value! While the quality of the finished cake was ok, I ended up paying more than $11 per person for an average cake that was NOTHING like a test cake that I had to pay separately for. The test cake was great and the wedding cake was like the poor cousin. Carol will quote low and end up charging you double or triple the amount she originally quoted. She does this through hiding costs for test cakes, service charges for setting up the cake, and hire costs with terms and conditions that are only visible to her. She is nearly impossible to pin down, either via phone or email, and does not like putting her quotes in writing. She changes the goal posts week to week, and you really are playing Russian Roulette as to what you will be getting. Do not trust her!
My cake was WOW factor !!!! Carol gave me exactly what I asked for except it was better !!! I was so pleased that we got together to discuss what I would really like. Carol knew exactly what I required but through her experience was able to give it that WOW!! Thankyou sooo much Carol everyone was in awe of my cake!! Fabulous job Carol WOW!!!!!! It was mouth watering !!!

Exceptional service, amazing options including Gluten free, Vegan and Vegetarian and a deliciously wonderful cake for a special day. Seriously highly recommended!
