Story

Located in the heart of the city of Cairns, we are a short walk from nearly 80% of the inner city hotels, motels and backpacker accomodations. At Cairns Baptist Church we believe in: Evangelising the lost, Establishing New Believers, Equipping all Christians for service and Encouraging all Christians in their Life and Ministry. Our Sunday services are at 8.30am, 10.30am 3.00pm (chinese) and 6.00pm and you are most welcome to join us any time. Check out our website for more information.

Great church, so friendly and welcoming. Get a free coffee for the first timer

I’m new to this area ; so when a boy from my hostel invited me to attend an activity with him at the church I gladly accepted. Unaware that it was a “learning English through discussion” activity until I got there. Which was totally fine , I was still happy to attend - but felt a little out of place- as I already know English. I was going stay anyhow, and ask questions about attending regular service when it was over. And it was a nice experience to get to know the others that attended.  I decided to leave halfway through as I began to felt very unwelcome- by one lady running the discussion. Church is not supposed to make anyone feel unwelcome ! I even waited for a break in the discussion so I wouldnt disrupt the class. She was still very rude to me. I really hope for all new peoples sake that this isn’t everyone’s attitude. Did I belong there? Maybe not . I was invited and It’s church! I’m trying to get plugged in and make friends as I’m away from my home church ,family, and friends- but felt anxious after leaving . Very discouraging.

Enjoyed fellowship with my brothers and sisters. Friendly and welcoming. Small but intimate church of various nationalities and ages. Would visit again if I was in the area

I went out from curiosity and saw the following good points...people had a chance to participate with testimonies and prayer requests.the church was friendly.people greet and talk with you and the bearded preacher was good solid bible stuff on change and transformation.highly recommended..marcus ardern.

Phoned up the Cairns Baptist Lake Street Church to gather some information regarding Church services. Was unlucky enough to get a women called Maureen on the phone. Maybe just the most unfriendly person that I have even talked to on the phone. Not really the kind of person that should be in customer relations, let alone picking up a Church phone. Won’t be visiting this Church for a Church service. If Maureen is a reflection of how friendly they are at the Cairns Baptist Church I’ll be going esle where to practice my faith, God Bless!
